Is anyone actually considering this thing? $300 of plastic weighing in at 30 lbs, and it is going to break someday. And the hills are not even that great.
NOT THAT IT IS NOT COOL.
But I mean heck you could get 3 Baneblades for that price.

Depends what you mean by 'considering'.
If you mean - will I be forking over my money when it comes out? No.
If you mean - will I be forking over my money if I win the lottery, then yes. Yes I will...

at $175 I'd probably buy one (or two). At $200 I was tempted. At $290 there is no way, I'll just buy a zuzzy mat.

I bought a 8 x 4 piece of wood and some 2 x 4's and built a table with terrain for less than half that cost. If you are willing to do a little work then there are much better ways to make a gaming surface.

I might consider $125. If I was a millionaire I might consider $65. Appearances.
Come on, plastic? Not that it is not a cool idea. At least they can give it away at the auction.

Seems I am getting my hands on one for 200$, which was a price I found easy to talk myself into.
I have a game table already with some terrain, but I think this will make a nice addition. Plus, I am really hoping they will come out with "booster" panels in the future, with perhaps a more city look or something. That and if historic results are indicitive of future performance, my terrain making will continue to be a long drawn out affair of few results.

I'm getting one.
Solves numerous logisitical problems in one fell swoop, and I'd expect this will last a lot longer than a wooden board. Not to mention not being prone to warping in less than ideal environments.
Oh, and sure, you could get 3 Baneblades with that sort of money. But which are you going to use more? The Three Baneblades which can be used in larger games only, or the gaming board, which you would (barring going round a mates house or a Game Store) use for all your games? Which is the better value there?

Personally, if I had to spend $300 on GW stuff, I'd go for the Revenant Titan.

Well, Taco makes a good point. 3 Baneblades is something. Or...
2 Vindicators, 1 Landraider
2 Assault marine packs
2 10 man Tac Squads
1 5 man termi set
1 Space marine Captain kit
If I didn't have a backlog of figures to paint, but a dearth of terrain, it would be a very convincing argument to me, too.

£150 buys me gaming when I choose it.
I can now have friends round to have a game. My flatmate is a gamer.
It's not for everyone, but when you consider it ought to be a one off purchase (you do look after your toys, don't you?) I don't think the price is entirely unreasonable. High, yes but too high, not really. Only heard good things about it from those who have actually had a touchy feely sesh with it.

grotsnik I dont know why you are defending your purchase. The product is over priced but you know this, its not a trick to you. You are purchasing it knowing all the details of it. At that point it shouldnt matter what any naysayers do, just let them spout.

This poor bastard is grossly overpriced. I mean, $300 is not even in the ballpark for what I should be paying. It's not that I can't afford it, it's just that the utility is not nearly worth this much when comparable products would cost so much less. Very cool, I'd buy one if it was $150 or so, but for the minimal amount of actual terrain on this thing, definitely not.

I was originally thinking it came with the industrial-looking terrain but I guess it is just a bunch of hills, ah well.
It should come pre-primed at least. "fethers". $300 with no free shipping. At least Forge World loads it onto a plane for you.

I considered it at 175 because with the case it fits in the trunk well and ca be pulled out whenever whereever. I dont trust wood and foam in my trunk. The weather would eat it alive.
Apparently, and this could have been covered in other threads, it went way up because of shipping issues. They cant charge the stores to ship it so they had to pass that on.

Shipping rates are fixed. They don't tend to change from item to item, as long as the volume and weight aren't wildly out of proportion. A 60 lb. box of sweaters should cost as much as a 60 lb. TV set or a 60 lb. carton of shoes. The only way they could justify a huge price spike on one item because of "shipping" would be if they were recouping costs from lots of other items that were being shipped at a loss.

Shipping single units at GW's bulk rates should be something like $20-$25 each, not $100...

How's that phrase go again? "A fool and his money are soon parted?" Never been more applicable than it is to this waste of space GW has put out. But I don't blame them for the price - let's be clear on that. I still suspect that it was the manufacturer that did this to GW, forcing them to put the price up. It would also support the rumours that they're not doing another production run after this one - GW are cutting their losses and moving on. Not their fault, other than not being clever enough to do something about it before they got stung. I guess that s what happens when you spend two decades being an insular UK company that has never ventured out into the world of 'Made in China' until recently. It stands to reason they'd be a bit naive, from a business perspective, about how things work over there. BYE

It doesn't look cool to me. If you had a self made gaming board which looked like it had been put together by an inbred two year old I'd think more of it than something you bought, especially something like this made on a production line. Saying that I understand some people don't have the time.

There is absolutely no way I'd ever buy one of these, I can make better for less, but hearing rumours of "no further production runs" really does take the biscuit as far as I'm concerned, the only selling point would be if they were going to release expansion packs of 2-4 tiles every few months. If they're already admitting that this is a one off... well, nail in the coffin, bang bang bang. :S
