so i was watching tv and it hit me... everyone seems to be, thanks to new 5th edition rules, gravitating towards either the Nurgle army or the Orks army. oddly enough i too have started playing Orks, but ive wanted to play Orks for years, and at the price of the AOBR set i said why the hell not thats a great start.
ANYWHO i was just wondering, aside from the obvious, why so many have now suddenly said what the hey lets play Nurgle/Orks.

Cause Orks are umcomplicated beings, they're like the really large slowed bully that you knew form your school days. Except now you het to control hundreds of 'em.

No idea why Papa Nurlge is popping up. Always been a more Blood for the Blood God type meself.

i too have always prefered khorne, as fer orks, well, they're just awesome, but around the release time of 5th ed. i was affected by something too, and felt declined to pay homage to puppa nurgle, i dismissed this however, as simply being something in the air...

Orks are fun to collect. They have a miniatures history stretching back even (albiet slightly) farther back than Space Marines. Plus I love converting, and the idea of having tons of wasky custom vehicles really appeals to me. That why I'm starting an Ork army.

From a converting/modeling perspective Orks and Nurgle armies offer a plethora of opportunities.

Nurgle speaks to those who might be a bit overweight, have a few pimples, and who want superpowers.

I've wanted to play orks ever since I saw the front of my Space Wolves Codex. Oddly enough watching them die was a good enough reason to buy them. AOBR just allowed my wants to collect orks to manifest.

Orks are seeing a massive rise in popularity and sales because the assault on black reach box is ridiculously cheap and buying several can get you a fieldable ork force for a fraction of the cost of doing it any other way. Not to mention the fact that they are a very easy race to play for beginners with uncomplicated but effective tactics and army builds. They are the perfect foil for the space marines in the box who are also an uncomplicated and effective army for beginners.

the ork army is awesome but my first ork army in quite a few years is going to go with all grots, i'm going to have 180 of the buggers and a mek with a KFF, all those 3+ cover saves from going to ground on an objective is going to be quite funny, still couldn't resist orks as some lootas have to go with the army, its fits in the theme of deathskulls (the only clan i havent done) and so i think its time to put some wacky vehicles in their too, probably looted wagons with boomguns and dreads the looted wagons will be more trukks that the boyz keep the scrap in with a massive gun on the front, i think a mek with a shokk attack gun will be funny standing back with my orky firebase (i know the thought is laughable)

i already have the grots painting 180 is looking like its getting nowhere lol

Who would you consider to be a tactically complex army? Orks can be as simple or as complex as you want to make them, same thing with Marines. Necrons are a simple race, marines and orks are maybe medium complexity, but not simple, IMHO.

The age of man is over; the time of the Ork has come.

Necrons are not a simple race. If you play them as a stand and shoot army as their statline suggests you will lose. Badly. Playing necrons well is a chessgame of movement and blocking.

Orks are a tactically forgiving race as they are for nearly all intents and purposes fearless, have large squads that can absorb tremendous damage without crippling the army, and unless played in a very non standard fashion are essentially a go foreward army. Go foreward, shoot stuff, punch things. Marines are similarly simplistic, though they have more consideration when it comes to squad customization and morale. Losing a large number of marines to a bad decision is much more crippling then the same number of orks. Though either one is much harder to do than with a less forgiving army such as Tau.

For easy armies to play I would probably suggest:
Orks
Space Marines
Chaos Space Marines
Tyanids

For more difficult armies to play I would probably suggest:

Tau
Imperial Guard
Eldar
Daemons
Necrons

Oh, Deathvomit (winds of chaos), Gas so bad it kills (aura of decay), a sword that can potentially kill 12 people a turn when you charge. And being able to laugh off mortal wounds...

Nurgle Is the Most Popular of the Chaos Armies Because they Offer the Most artistic Features, like sculpting.

Khorne, you'll just add a skull here and there, and splash blood.

Slaanesh, you'll just..nevermind.

tzeentch, you coul make floating disks, add horns and beaks..

Nurgle, you can sculpt intestines, buboes, guts, big bellies(get in mah belly!!) and double tongues.

Orks People like because they were like...the thing.
A guy at a hobby store said that orcs were always grey skinned until warhammer came out, then they had green.

Bam, instantly curiosity came.
And they are Funny.

So yeah.thats kinda what i know/think.
