Wanted to make a more chaosy themed imperial guard army and after much thought, I decided to make it a nurgle themed army since all of the mutations and such look fun to model. I decided to use the grenadier doctrine so I can use stromtroopers as troops, who will be represented by horribly bloated/mutated/mold covered guardsmen.

Anyways, just made a test model. I had lots of fun making it, more fun I think than with any other model so far...

pics really don't do the model just IMHO...

Still very WIP.. comments and suggestions welcome.

Oh, here and there.

Looks pretty cool to me. But you WILL get tired of GSing 50+ guardsmen unless these won't be as prevalent in your list.

Love to see more!

You think what he's doing will get old? I'm using the carapace armour doctrine...

Nice job though, dude.

that looks alright, maybe add a symbol or to on him, and a few chaos accesories, and he looks like a mutated zombie in new armour lol. but otherwise good job

Great job! I hope you won't go mad after doing 50 or so models, or are you going to do a lot of variations of the Nurglesque mutations?

I like it. It's a clever idea for differentiating Stormtroopers from normal Guardsmen.

Also - guys. He's not doing this with all of his Guardsmen. Only the ones that are going to represent Grenadiers. That's not gonna be 50.

yah, I realize it may get tiring after awhile... but I'm not going to be using huge amounts of stormtroopers. Its mainly going to be a mechanised army for the most part.... going to have lots of vehicles, not just an infantry swarm.

thanks for the postive remarks, going to try and get another one made tonight if I have enough time after work.

I like it, but I think the armor needs to be tweaked a tiny bit to look more decayed/fused to the body/infected/ whatever. As is it just looks like he got splattered with the stuff.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.

good call, I'll try and make it look more decayed... I'm just worried about overdoing all the mold and greenstuff and not keeping the guardsmen look. Need to find the right balence...

guardsman number 2....with no arms.. yet...

together with the other guy. added some dinks and chips in the armor for the first guy..if you can tell, might be hard from the pic.

really satisfied with the look of this guy, got a little more adventureous expanding from just mold to a bloated belly and faceplate.
probally going to move this to a blog... dunno

anyways, comments and criticism welcome!

You do realize Cadian models are wearing carapace armour right?

Now if you adding carapace armour to the other guard armies, that would be a challenge for sure.

Always good to see more nurgle guardsmen...

and yes, be vigilant, GS-ing guardsmen is worth it when you see the looks on the opponents faces... as for what you got going, EXCELLENT work. Yours are, obviously, Nurgle Devotees. Great work. (Mine are just undead nurglely zombie guardsmen, mostly)

(for those who wanna know where MY nurgle IG are, well, College = priority, sorry, no updates)

As for your doctrine choices, that works well, very well.

I use Veterans and Grenadiers to represent some mercenaries hired on to give the zombie army an edge, as for the zombies, standard guard w/ independant commissars. A few forge-world Vrakian renegades thrown in for Platoon HQ and you have a well formed army...

Be thankful you are doing a medium army... I have around 100 fully mutated zombie IG to do, then another 100 generic renegades to do with minor modifications themselves.

I love the wires coming out of the guardsman's gut. That's just so very Nurgley.

Now, all you have to do is figure out how to make Nurglings into Ratling Snipers.

Oh, and I do hope you get them painted up soon. These are very nice.
