I'm working on my IG army, and I'd like to have a model or two that are for special weapon teams with a trooper who has a demolition charge. As of right now, I have a basic idea as to what it should look like (Cadian legs, torso, the left arm open to hold a detonator [the pouch & hand grenade combo with the the hand grenade removed looks an awful lot like a detonator], lasgun strapped to his back), but I don't know how to model a demolition charge. A friend recommended that I model a number of sticks of dynamite wrapped together, but I'm hesitant to do that for two reasons - first, I'm not sure where I'd start, and secondly, I envisioned it as more of a satchel charge.

Does anyone have any examples on how they might have modeled theirs? Thanks.

Oh, here and there.

I converted mine into a medic, but this is the basics of what mine was. Just a chunk of an autocanno barrel w/ bitz added.

Not the best example, but still pretty effective. Also, the detonator idea was really good- I should do that!

Hope this helps.

I did mine all WWII style. I took a chunk of thich plastic squared and made a bandolier out of green stuff for them. If you want pics I can dig my IG out when I get off work for you if you like.

I've taken the autocannon ammo case from the Cadian Weapons team, and painted the rounds red like sticks of dynamite.

Could you not use the grenade launcher ammo packs with the cadian set? You'll have to GS the hollow at the back, but stick an antenna in them made of wire or something and that would look pretty good.
Also, the catachan radios would work too i'd imagine, with some creative painting, such as 'C4' or 'TNT' freehanded onto the front.

Google for images of a claymore mine. Easy enough to model with a slice of sprue and fits in with the hand held detonator idea.

i bought some tiny barrels from a model railway store then glued a couple of grenades to it - eg a small keg of powder or petrol with a simple fuse!
i just put it loose on the base of the model then remove it (usually with the model when the ruddy thing deviates 6"!) once it's been thrown / used.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

So how I modeled it:

Flamethrower tank, with the tubes taken off the top. Another detonator on the spot where the back would stick into. The handle from the spare autocannon case was stuck down and glued to the side, and I snaked Hallucination's use of the Aquila (had a spare bit that was snapped in half).
