WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL,
i've been thinking about starting and O&G army for awhile an i just want to get a feel for the list. im not a big fan of the gogo but i have seen them put to good use. not for me tho. id like to run a more orc exclusive list. i got the book the other day and just kinda skimmed it. it has raised some questions, and i have come up with some units taht i think might work.

for lords and heros:
black orc bosses just seem worth it. they fix the potential poor animosity roll, for a price....

i like the way the warboss ironclaw's WAAAGH! cleava sounds but im not sure if it's worth it. for all of my magic item points on a warboss (100) its a auto wound no armour save weapon. sounds compelling, it it worth it? with heavy armour and a shield he's at 254pts. poor saves for a leader tho... great for killin stuff tho. not so great in a challenge i might think....

now. i then see martog's besta basha. fifteen points for +1 WS, +1 S and +1 I. uhm, that looks very nice. only two magic armours, spiteful shield looks okay for 25 pts. i also like bigged's kickin' boots for 30pts +1 attack. besta basha and boots on a black orc BSB with h. armour doesnt sound too bad....

of course then there are the shamans. sure a scroll caddy and then maybe one with the idol of mork just to keep the dice high, assuming things go well-ish...

core:
i likes me the orc boys. they be fancy methinks.
30 boys with shields and standard and a musician for 195pts. five ranks of six. sounds good to me. a few of those and im set.

arrers i guess just for shooting, but how many in a unit? i dunno... 14? 12? 10? 452? (no, that's too big)

special:
i looked at the savage boys in core and thought hmm... then i look in special and think HMMMM. put them on some boars and big 'un wif some spears and they might do alright i think, i could be wrong... 5+ armour with 6+ ward? i dunno... maybe. put them back in core? you tell me....

black orcs are shiney... i wanna make an army based around these bad boys. 24 with sheilds, musician and a standard for 354pts. skip a boss, they dont roll for animosity.

rare:
trolls, stone trolls, best choice? i think so but what do i know, i just got the book! four of those for 240pts? pricey buy killy.
not too into the giant. there's too much involved for them.


well, someone help me please. cuz i dunno what to do!

Black Orc Warboss 254pts
- heavy armour, sheild, WAAAGH! cleava
Black Orc Bigboss 159pts
- heavy armour, BSB, martog's besta basha, begged's kickin' boots
Orc Shaman 150pts
- lvl two, two dispel scrolls
Orc Shaman 150pts
- lvl two, idol of mork

Core: 585 pts
30 Orcs 195pts
- shields, musician, standard
30 Orcs 195pts
- shields, musician, standard
30 Orcs 195pts
- shields, musician, standard


Special: 685pts
24 Black Orcs 354pts
- sheilds, musician, standard
10 Savage Boar Boyz 331pts
- big 'uns, spears, musician standard

the total atm is 1983, im not sure were to put the last few points. a champ in either the Black Orc (20pts) or Boar Boyz (17pts) would but its almost even/exact. another option is to have another unit of Black Orcs instead of the Boars. or drop the Balck Orcs for another unit of boys and two chariots with extra crew.

First thing I see with your list is a) lack of movement aside from your savage boar boyz and b) total disregard for shooting.

Now shooting isnt exactly the O&G's strong suit, but there are somethings that big blocks of orcs wont be able to deal with. Hence, I highly recommend at least 2 spear chuckers. Running at an incredibly cheap 35 points, they have the 'potential' to do a lot of damage. Actually hitting is a whole 'nother story.

While I like 30 boyz units I think 3 is a bit much. 2 is fine, but 3's a little OTT, especially when I see some glaring weaknesses. Get a champion in this unit, all orc units should have a champ as they not only get an extra attack, but they also get an extra point of strength!

The black ork unit and save boar boyz units are a bit much. If you want em, thats fine, they're just too big for my liking. I'm a big fan of a naked 5 savage boar boyz naked. Thats 105 points for 10 str 5 attacks. 10 just makes them that much more of a target, which is also a problem with the big unit of black orks.

I realize you like the orcs, I just think you need some gobbos to deal with skirmishers and to harry your opponents flanks.

The list as I see it now, would have issues against faster armies, they could literally run rings around you and you wouldn't be able to do a thing.

what is better then? a war machine or two or some small-ish units of arrers, or some combination of the two?

would it be wise to split the boar boys into two unit, then?

three is a lot, in order to make room for some change i may have to remove one...
