I'm sure some of you remember my Chaos Daemon army concept from painting and modelling, of the outcast wandering tinkerer and creator of industrial servitors who succumbed to the dark gods and began to create unholy amalgamations of flesh and steel...

But its now better fluff wise, and miniatures wise, i have more concepts and test soldiers on the go.
i have decided that the main choices for the army will be horrors, represented by the models above, and bloodletters, represented by mini's similar to the above, but more combat orientated, with claws and chain-weapon like appendages.
the army will also be led by the tinkerer himself, when i find suitable rules to rep him, but for now will be led by two heralds ,one of khorne, one of tzeench, upgraded versions of their respective troop choices.
the final unit for now will be a daemon prince, the tinkerers idea of the pinnacle of his creative powers.
so here we are, more images for now, and fluff will be posted here when i finish writing it.

any questions, feel free to ask, and also opinions and comments welcome, good or bad.

They actually remind me of an episode of Dr Who where some clockwork robots were using human materials to put their ship back together (or something along those lines :>!).

I really like them mate, look forward to seeing more !

If you never got any further on the army, it would make a sweet kill team, I really like the stream lined look of the models.

Looks great with the filed down necron head. Gives it a sort of faceless horror vibe.

So where is that old project you mentioned? How did you paint the blue by the way you made it look as if the blue plates are actually some sort of plastic or metal, good job!

it wasnt an old project as such, it was just the first two models of the army haha. and it was on painting and modelling somewhere. and yeah, the DP is the Grand Damned of Anger from Hell Dorado, and i dont think its small compared to some DP's i've seen in the past.

and the plates are just extreme highlighting tbh, hawk turquoise hightlighted with hawk turquoise+a bit of white, at about 4:1, and then gloss varnished.

working on the "khornate" mini's now, theyre ready for painting, along with the heralds, and the DP is near completion.

Love this project so far. Very original, and highly crafted.
My favorite "horror" is the one with the flamer.

the twisted barrels were an accident. i was carrying it pre-painting, and dropped it, and there was a slo-mo moment. but it got away with no damage save for the twisted gun, which would'nt have been there otherwise xD

Have you considered looking into the AT-43 Therian models? They seem to have the same vibe, perhaps with some minor conversion work and a new paintscheme they would make perfect additions to your force!

a quick update to the new models i have added to my force over the last few days.

i've been working on the daemon prince, but also one of the heralds, and building some spawn and the tinkerer himself bit by bit, to add to my army.

it now consists of:
herald of khorne with deathstrike, unholy might 100pts
herald of tzeench with we are legion, master of sorcery, breath of chaos 95pts

2 beasts of nurgle 70pts

5 horrors, one of which has bolt of tzeench 95pts
5 bloodletters 80pts

daemon prince with iron hide, breath of chaos 140pts
which gives me almost 600pts. i have another daemon prince and more troops in the works though, so it'll be ready for a game soon...

in the mean time more pics

This is an interesting concept, but it's way too easy to see the bits that make up your units.

I'd say that for the most part, the Necron Warrior bits need to be more covered in (GS) flesh, especially along the chest and joints. Basically, as they are, they're just screaming "Necron" at me. If that's what you want, then so be it. But I don't think it is.

I do like the concept, and the filled Necron heads look very cool along with the flesh. Kind of like Bio-Marionettes or something.

well, for the horrors, i kinda still wanted the minimalist kind of look to them, but on the other units, i've seen to this problem, like you said with flesh across the chest and so on.

thanks for your input Chrysaor.

There is something off about the Tinkerer, he looks like some Cadian trooper who rebelled against the Imperium and took a bunch of machines with him. For some reason I imagined him as a robed figure, like many Adeptus Mechanicus adepts

I agree that more disguising of the Necron bitz (especially the very recognizable legs and shoulderpads) would really help your appearance, including the horrors.

That said, I like both the theme and the execution so far. The feceless them (except on the tinkerer) is great, and ties thing together well.

The tinkerer is for some reason really creepy, and looks great in plastic.. The only recognizable human in the bunch also having the only recognizable face is a good thing. Can't wait to see how you paint him! You might want to further distinguish him from his military uniform though- more bitz or GS around the waist and/or legs would help disguise the military coat and cargo pants. Heck, even just scraping off the cargo pockets and adding a few technical gewgaws around the waist will help.

Good work!

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I also have to agree. Everything here looks sweet, but the tinkerer looks too sane and organized. I don't know exactly how far along you have your fluff fleshed out, but it seems like he'd be more of a mad scientist, heavy on the mad. Maybe not a robe, but perhaps make his equip look a little more like "I put it all back together, but where the hell did all of these extra parts come from?"

everyones opinions have been taken into account, and i have started acting upon them.

"I kinda thought of the Tinkerer with a work smock. Like a victorian toy-maker..."
his assisstant will look like that, as i have the daemon guy from hell dorado which has that kind of clothing, the bulky guy. the name escapes me though...

it'll be a week or two before i post anything new on here now, as i will be on a short break, and i'm only taking painting stuff with me, so no modelling unfortunately :(

YES

Superb project WLord, loving everything so far. The horrors are particularly sweet, and the DP as well. I like the dangly destroyer arm on the spawn too, and the way the heralds were going.

Curious how the Tinkerer turns out. I'm not 100% on him in your WIP shot, the staff and arm in specific. The oversized hand, too simple staff (maybe you're blinging it out?), arm shot out to the side like that.

Anyway, rocking stuff, nice paint as well as conversion.

What about putting the Tinkerer on some sort of machine, it would be a mix between a dreadnought and a throne, perhaps similar to that one Inquisitor model?
