I've done a handful of these for my boy's Necron army and have gotten pretty good at the conversion. I'm thinking of doing an article, but wanted feedback from da boyz to make sure it was even necessary.

I don't remember seeing any modelling articles, but I know that Aduro and a few others have done modelling blogs for making Flayed Ones out of warriors. I can take 2 warriors and make 1 Flayed One and 1 Immortal with a bit of plasticard and greenstuff.

So what do you think?

UPDATE: I've managed to get a few pics although our new camera is a bit touchy in the maco setting and only one came out clear. I think about everyone has seen Aduro's Flayed Ones and mine are pretty much the same thing: warriors posed creatively with plasticard claws. Here's one of my immortals, the first one I've finished. I've got four more coming down the pike and I'm working on the article pics now.

I really doubt you'll find many people that would turn down a how-to article being made for them. Even those that don't play Crons might still enjoy the modeling aspect.

I say go for it!

It seems it would be pretty simple with a little plasticard and GS, but I'd like to see your method.

I've actually seen this on another site (whose identity I will keep hidden), but I would vote yes. Getting 6 Flayed ones and 6 Immortals for the price of a single box of warriors is a great deal and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would benefit from this.

Considering how much cheaper warriors ar than both immortals and flayed ones, I would defiantly want to see an article detailing the conversion process.

I was surprised that no one else had done it here before me...

The conversion's pretty simple for the most part and while the Immortals aren't quite as beefy as the metal models, they still look pretty good.

So one box of Warriors = $35.00 and provides 12 models (plus scarabs FTW!), 6 Flayed Ones and 6 Immortals.

Immortals = $10 each x 6 = $60
Flayed Ones = $15 per 2 x 3 = $45
That's a savings of $70 before the cost of a garage sale sign and a pack of green stuff.

I've said before that I'm a cheap, miserly gamer, but I think this example says it best!

As you wish Aduro!

I'll take pics this weekend and post them by Monday. I'll start work on the article as well. Thanks for the encouragement!

I've seen Necron Immortals made from Necron Warrior legs and Destroyer torsos, you would need to seriously beef up the warriors in order for them to be convincing Immortals.

Yes, I use plasticard to beef up the legs and shoulders. I dry fit a destroyer torso on warrior legs and he had polio legs, not even close to consistent proportion. However, the addition of plasticard armor to the legs gives them the illusion of extra heft while maintaining consistent proportions to the warrior torsos.

I'll not lie and say that it's super easy to do. It took a bit of working and I've made mistakes, but my technique is pretty effective and looks pretty good once put together. I actually like the Flayed ones I make better than the metal models since they're a bit more creative in stance and pose, not to mention that I can model whatever kind of claws/blades I want them to have.

I don't think anyone is really going to object to a tutorial on this guy. I don't have any real problems with the conversion either, so I say just write it up.
