Can Demons chosen as part of a Demons of Chaos list assault on the turn they deepstrike? Please include a page reference so we can it in the book. Issue came up last Sunday as part of a friend's playtest. We resolved it by simply stating that yes, they can because otherwise it would have been a lame game for both of us but would like clarification since he is building the Demons into a tournament army.

The rule you are looking for can be found on page 95 of the main rulebook. The specific part is paragraph 7, which says...

Rulebook p.95 wrote: In that turn's Assault phase, however, these units [those that have arrived via deepstrike] may not launch an assault (even if they have the 'fleet' special rule), unless clearly stated in their special rules-

The confusion here comes from the fact that the lesser daemons of Codex: CSM (a completely different set of rules and a different unit) are allowed to assault out of deepstrike.

The Codex: Chaos Daemons has no such special ability.

Chaos daemons from the DoC codex most certainly CANNOT. They Deep Strike as normal. This is their disadvantage, and they have great stats and low points costs to compensate.

Generic Lesser Daemons and generic Greater Daemons in Codex: Chaos Space Marines CAN assault the turn they arrive, and have much weaker stats to compensate.
