another option is to put in some combination of stone trolls and/or unit(s) of 16 Black Orcs (with shields, musician and standard for 242pts)
still not sure how well this will work. all i have is the army book, i have never played orcs in WFB. any suggestions on what to change, like more shooting perhaps?

If want shooting with orks loose the arrer boyz and add some gobbo warmachines to the army. The orc archers wont hit any thing and the shooting in ork army is not that good.

At the moment you don't much manouverability with this list, you have solid core of foot blocks, but enemy with more mobile army can get flank charges and lead your frenzied savage orcs away from action. You can solve this issue by adding some wolf riders to the army. I would loose at least one unit of trolls for some wolves.

okay, so the arrers can be replaced with bolt throwers.

would boar boys work, instead of wolves?

Boar boyz fill a different niche, they are heavy cav and as such shock troopers of the army.

Fast cav is valuable to most armies as it has amazing movement possibilities and the roles they fill are really important (war machine/ lone mage hunters, harassers and march blockers).
