So I've been seeing some very nice conversions for Chaos Demons around here lately and it has got me pining to start up a new army. But I have a few questions before I start laying down cash for the codex and a ton of plastic.

1. How does each of the different Chaos God's stuff play individually?

2. Is it possible (in a tournament list sense) to build a good army using only one God's units?

3. What is the deep striking of the army like? Do you find it unwieldy or precise and deadly?

4. How well is the army's shooting?

As a quick end note. I'm mainly interested in a Tzeentch based force. I don't mind the inclusion of any other Chaos God though. I was just want to have fun deep striking a bunch of stuff onto the board and then having it blow the enemy away best it can.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

(THIS SPACE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK)

Its not only possible but easy to create an all nurgle force that is tourny worthy. you can max out at over 100 plaguebearers with epydimous at 2000 points. Nothing will ever table you. Ever. Most opponents would have a hard time simply not being overrun by that many T5 FNP wounds with a 5+ inv. Whatever bonuses epidymous gives you on top of that is gravy.

The list can't deal well with vehicles, but who cares. Just ignore them and kill everything else!

Do you remember that time that thing happened?
This is a bad thread and you should all feel bad

1. Unfortunately, though this is possible, it would be a very challenging mono list for some dieties. such as slaanesh, as most of them have a low toughness value and can be shot up with small arms fire. A mono khorne would have little to no shooting but devestating on a charge. an all nurgle list would be surprisingly resilient and deadly in close combat, counted that epidimius is in there. and a mono tzeentch suffer from the tau curse of WS. but deadly shooting.

2. in a competetive sense of a tourny, i would say, no, and if you do, it'd be hard to pull off. the most Tourney playing army i could see on paper, that may be tough to take down in a tourney is an all nurgle list.

3. Well, it decides with the wave you want. if you put all your heavy hitter on one wave, it'd give the opponent a tough time to react, but if you get the wave wer you put all your soft/infantry units, your gona have to think aobut your Deepstrikes. As such, most daemon armies are made that even if you didnt get the wave you want, the same purpose of the first wave is with the second wave as well. all in all, there is a good amount on uncertainty due to the kind of terrain, unit deployment, mishaps, etc. but all in all daemons are a manageable army on the deepstrike once you get used to it.

4. An army with tzeentch shooting, can decimate infantry units, BoT can take out transports, not to mention the deadly flamer attacks of the Tzeentch flamers once they DS off an icon. and dont forget the soulgrinder with either a choice of a rail gun, or battle cannon.
