OK.. as the 5th edition rulebook sayeth.. .. you now need to use the bases supplied with models etc..

In the AoBR box, the Nobs are supplied with basic 25mm round bases.

I have been basing my Nobs now for over a year using 40mm bases, to visually distinguish leader types in the midst of an ork Horde, and to make that Nob Mob look snazzy.. so when I got my AoBR, I based those Nobs according to my own pattern.

I have never had a problem with any opponent when I do so.. implying tacit permission given. I also only play at the FLGS, no tournaments.

NOW, with the New Ork Nob box coming out in January, the GW site page says that they come with 40mm bases! WHOO HOO.. I am ahead of the curve on something!

How do you other Ork Warbosses play with your Nobs basing?

2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

Order of St Ursula (Sisters of Battle): W-2, L-1, T-1
Get of Freki (Space Wolves): W-3, L-1, T-1
Hive Fleet Portentosa (Nids/Stealers): W-6, L-4, T-0
Omega Marines (vanilla Space Marine): W-1, L-6, T-2
Waagh Magshak (Orks): W-4, L-0, T-1
A.V.P.D.W.: W-0, L-2, T-0

My (now sadly unused) Ard Nobz are based on 25mm bases, but I'll most likely mount my next Nob mob on 40mm.

The listing on the GW site may say 40mm bases, but they come with 25mm bases. Just look at the picture of the models, they are on 25s.

I have always went with bases that fit the models best. My newer Stealth Suits are on 40mm bases for my Tau. I use the old VOR 50mm bases for larger models that are too big for 40s, but not big enough for 60s (like Crisis Suits, my mega armor Warboss, etc.)

It may say that you should use the bases they come with in the book, but I think it is more for not going smaller than bigger. I have never had an issue with having slightly larger bases on models in tournaments or anywhere else.

Just don't put a single Ork Boy on a 60mm :-)

I'd suggest you get some of the 30mm bases that Dark Age use for their models.. bigger than the 25mm ones but not so big as a 40mm

Yep. I'm doing all my AOBR orks in the PP/Dark Ages style bases. Good stuff.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

All my old stuff is on 25mm but I'm mounting all my new Nobs on 40mm. I just like the look.
