Ok, my friend collects Eldar and I collect Orks. My friend is really good and seems to beat me and our other friends every time he plays. He's just that good. Can someone please help me get some tactics to beat him?

Here's his army list.

2 squads of 10 guardians, one bright lance pltfrm and 1 scatter laser pltfrm
2 10 man dire avenger squads
5 fire dragons
1 Falcon Grav tank (pulse laser and bright lance)
1 wraith lord (scatter laser and shuriken cannon)
1 viper (same as wraithlord)
Farseer

Don't bother asking me my army. Can you tell me what wargear or squads would be good and then I'll know how to structure my army for the future.

Also, can you tank shock wraithlords because if you can then I can use my to-be-battlewagon against it.

Thx if you can help.

firstly get lootas. These can pen all his vehicles, and put up enough shots to shoot guardians and das. You could use a kff, or sag. Get a backbone of boys and put rokkits with them. If he stays in his deployment zone and shoots the heck out of you, then you can get snikrot and his ladz. Target the farseer, and viper first. the viper is a mobile killer with scatter lasers. bright lances wont do much unless you make your battle wagon. I play eldar and orks so i have experiance. Hope that helps.

guessing you're at about roughly 1k/1.2k pts (can't be bother to add up his arm)

falcon and viper shoot these with any thing and get a stunned or shaken move on ...looter on the falcon any thing in range on the viper

Wrathlord ... run a truck with unit of boyz and a power klaw and get stuck in, more likely then not you'll kill him in 2 turns ... if he kills them so what he's not shooting any one for most of the game

guardians, dire avenger and fire dragons just get in CC and they'll die soooo fast .... Stormboyz are a good way to close with DA who will stay just out of charge range ... guardians will not hit much ... fire dragons are in the falcon yes? they'll kill 5 orks the die when you charge them

Farseer ... hunt this guy down ... once dead you're job will be much easier ... note if possible get him +6" away from wrathlord(or kill him ^_^), then the wrathlord will have to test for wrath sight (on a failed test, the wrathlord just stands there ... all hits in CC automatically hit ... last till the next eldar turn)

... only vehicles cannot be tank charged ... deffroll can work against Wrathlords but he's fearless and 3+ armour so he just let you tank charge past and tear through you're weak side armour

Thanks guys.

Funnily enough, I had made some Lootas but they kept dying on the first turn so I made them Burnas instead. I might regret that though they'd be good against the guardians. My army is 1000 points and I think I might get some of those new stormboyz when they come out instead of the battlewagon.I think it'd help if i told you his tactics. Um "Tri", wouldn't a deffrolla work since he might be fearless but I can still dish out D6 S10 hits. AND if he Death or Glorys me, another D6 S10 hits.

He lines up all of his guys along the table edge so they're pretty static. But he usually ends up having a trump card.

In case this helps too, I'll show you my army list so we could deal with that.

Warboss w/ PK
5 Nobz w/ big choppas
weirdboy w/ warphead
30 slugga boyz w/ 3 big shootas and a Nob w/ PK
10 'ard shoota boyz w/ a rokkit launcha and a Nob w/ PK
3 Warbikers including a Nob w/ PK (I love my Power Klaws)
3 Deffkoptas w/ twin rokkits each, and depending on the match, I have bigbomms or buzzsaws
4 burnas and 1 mekboy w/ kustom mega-blasta
1 warbuggy w/ twin big shootas (probably replaced by stormboyz soon)

Yeah.

PS: His wraithworld has NEVER died! It seems unstoppable to me.

The simplest answer is to get more boyz. Mobs of 20+ with a PK nob will swamp Eldar, no matter what they're running. A bladestorm from a full DA squad will kill maybe 10-11 boyz, then guess what? You've still got 10 more. Large mobz can also swamp Wraithlords, with the nob killing it in two rounds of CC. A mek with a KFF will make your life much easier, regardless of whether you're foot or mech.

I know because I've played against Orks several times as Eldar - if you try to be cute with small squads of Ork specialists, you're just trying to beat Eldar at their own game. Play to the new Ork strength: 6 pt boyz. Bring a true horde and run him over. He can't run from a wall of boyz, nor can he kill enough of them in time. At least, not with his current list.

Here is what I would use against him:

HQ: Warboss (1#, 115 Pts)
1 Warboss @ 115 Pts
Power Klaw; Slugga; Stikkbombs; Furious Charge; Mob Rule; Waaagh!; Attack Squig; Bosspole; Cybork Body

Elite: Nobz (7#, 220 Pts)
6 Nobz @ 220 Pts
Choppa (x4); Power Klaw (x2); Slugga (x6); Feel No Pain; Furious Charge; Mob Rule; Waaagh!
1 Painboy @ [50] Pts
'Urty Syringe; Furious Charge; Mob Rule; Waaagh!; Dok's Tools

Troops: Boyz (30#, 245 Pts)
29 Boyz @ 245 Pts
Choppa & Slugga; Rokkit Launcha (x3); Furious Charge; Mob Rule; Waaagh!
1 Boyz Nob @ [41] Pts
Power Klaw; Slugga; Furious Charge; Mob Rule; Waaagh!

Troops: Boyz (30#, 245 Pts)
29 Boyz @ 245 Pts
Choppa & Slugga; Rokkit Launcha (x3); Furious Charge; Mob Rule; Waaagh!
1 Boyz Nob @ [41] Pts
Power Klaw; Slugga; Furious Charge; Mob Rule; Waaagh!

Fast Attack: Deffkoptas (3#, 180 Pts)
3 Deffkoptas @ 180 Pts
Buzzsaw (x3); Choppa; Twin Linked Big Shoota (x3); Furious Charge; Hit & Run; Mob Rule; Scouts; Deffkopta

Total Roster Cost: 1005

Warboss joins the Nobz, and the Boss' unit is screened by the two big boy nobs. Even though its relatiely small for Orcs, the painboy helps make them survivable. The Deffkoptas outflank. Turn one, the three big units move forward at full speed and run in the shooting phase. Terrain should allow you to isolate some of his units from gaining LOS so that he can't maximize his fire on one particular mob but has to split it between all three. Turn two, moe forward again, WAAGH!! and assault. He doesn't have any assault specialisits so your primary focus should be clearing his troop choices off the board in assault. Once you've cleared the guardians and DA, who can hurt your mobs the most with their shooting but die easy to assault, he will me down to 8 models you can hunt down at your leisure. If the Deffkoptas come in on turn two and his Farseer is unattached, that is the perfect target for them. Otherwise, use them to tie down a troops target. The list has 8 Power Klaws in it, so don't be too afraid of the Wraithlord in CC. Good luck.

@PanzerLeader .... if you've got a warboss why not take the Nobz as troop?

Tri---You can. I was just quickly filling in units in AB to meet his needs. Forgot to check that little box under roster options is all.

if the farseer is in that unit or close to it he can use guide and doom making them kill around 20 orks a turn. i like that option more

around 30 shots
hits on 3s
2/3 hit=20 hits
reroll ten others=6 more hits
26 hits
wound on 4s because toughnes
13 wounds reroll 13 others 7 hit
20 wounds ap4 or 5 i forgot, they both negate ork armour saves.

the nobs are troops btw because of warboss

i would use lootas and sag

that is another reason to kill the das and farseer

Fair enough, but then you've used a 100+ point character and 150 points of troops to kill 120 points of boyz, so it's not necessarily a fair comparison. And if you do kill 20 boyz, the mob may still have 10 dudes left, including a nob with a bosspole. And there will be several similar squads. Would you have a DA squad and a Farseer for every boyz mob?

By that same principle I could add a single KFF Mek into the equation, and he has the ability to provide saves to more than one unit.

I'm not saying DA suck (I spam em like nothing in my lists ). I'm saying that point for point, a lot of lists struggle to bring enough firepower to take out an equal number of boyz, when taken as a horde.

yeah, i hate guardians. i would rather have 10 das in wave serpant than 30 guardians. after you attack that squad, or another one, with assault squad like banshees or harlies, hit n run into a building if one is close by, then pound squads with fire prism/scatter laser/ non bladestorming das

to make a long story short stormboy65,op, you need more boys to overwhelm the eldar, as long as he doesnt have a couple of fireprisms you are okay

Thanks all of you. After reading this, Im considering to get a Big Mek with SAG and possibly even more boyz then a battlewagon, unless I could somehow use the killkannon to my advantage. I was thinking of transporting the Warboss + Nobz or the burnas as they'd be safe but they could get to where they need to go quick.

Pay attention to your set up as well. If you are playing the same bloke and you just know that he's gonna have a big strung out gun line along his table edge, then sit your entire army (maybe with one or two patsies) on one flank.

Now, Eldar might be fast, but if he is so confident of his winning tactic and doesn't cotton on, then you could have your surviving boys in his gun line at the end round two.

As an Eldar player, my usual reaction to fighting orcs is to choose the narrow table edge when I can. Then I don't loose so badly.
