If a Chaos Hero's challenge is answered by a unit champion, does the Chaos Hero receive a roll on Eye of the Gods after beating him into a bloody pulp? Two trains of thought at the FLGS. One says no because a champion is not a character. The other says yes, because the champion is a character with special restrictions on his use.

By RAW I will agree with Canaan on this. I do however feel that the intent was to include unit champions in this as well. However for this to be the case there will need to be an FAQ or Errata.

Sadly unit champions are not characters; they are rank and file models which are able to use certain character rules. It would certainly make the rule more useful if it did work in all challenges.

Really? Man, EotG is turning out to be so much less cool than what I've begun buying up a WoC army based upon ... Champions technically don't have to challenge unless there are warshrines around (lame), and now you only get to roll if you catch an enemy hero in combat and snap his/her scrawny neck. Or somehow tag a large target. Luckily I'm planning 2 shrines so at least I can get my random chart jollies off that way ...

If you build Warshrines into your army you'll get some good Eye of the Gods action. If you want even more, take a unit of Trolls, and maybe (optionally) a unit of Chosen.

Savage Orc Bosses can do it...dead easy. So I'd imagine Chaos can too.

A Chosen champion w/ a great weapon can make short work of any Elf Hero.

Unless that hero happens to be on a dragon. Or GW armed HE hero. ASF at S6 hurts ;-)
