Hello!

Please check out this thread over on the Bolter and Chainsword:

http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.php?showtopic=150296

I'm a BIG fan of MK8 armor, and I've got a lot of the old GW metal casts. But unfortunately, they are they very definition of static.

I'm looking for someone to build me some models similar to those seen in the B&C thread.

More specifically, these pictures:

The inspiration (1):

The inspiration (2):

The inspiration (3):

The details (1):

The details (2):

The details (3):

The details (4):

If anyone is interested, please PM me.

NOTE: I'm not looking for "true scale" models, as I'd like them to match up with existing GW metal models.

I'm looking for around 30 "assault marine" types and 20 "tactical marine" types in this style.

Thanks!

I haven't tried directly, but in that thread, he pretty much says "don't bother".

So, I was hoping to find someone else to take up the task for me...

I've tried posting here and on Warseer, but no luck so far.

To be honest with you, I'm surprised that this thread has lasted as long as it has, 'as is', on the B&C, as it talks about that most dreaded of all things... casting!

Still, I'm hopeful that someone with more skill than I can take up the challenge for me, for a fee of course!

I need my MK8 fix!

These look really good. tbh though if you decided to have a go at gs yourself this is not so advanced, the casting however is another issue.

btw I do wonder how he gets away with casting off a converted gw mould.

Well, that's the rub, isn't it?

He probably "get's away with it" as he's doing it strictly for himself? I'm guessing?

I'm not sure, really.

The whole "for commission" scene might exist in a bit of a grey area, actually...

I'm pretty sure he could be in big trouble just for showing that pic of the cast parts. Doesn't matter if they are for himself or not.

Good luck, and I would suggest trying to find another person to sculpt and cast them, as sculpting all 100 or whatever number you want will take forever and cost an arm and a leg more.

If that isnt Micro Art, and it looks like one of them, try them. They are expensive though.

I'm pretty sure it isn't them.

And, I'm 'only' looking for 50 marines, give or take, not 100!

Ha!

Oh I was just guesstimating. It wasn't aware of how many you were wanting.

And as it turns out, I guess I am looking for close to 100 of them!

Things are getting interesting, should have something to report soon...

I was experimenting last night making mk8 armour and actually its pretty easy. cut off the collar on a SM back torso and glue it to the front. The problem is you have to make the torso thicker to place a SM head in it.

I've been thinking about the MK8 and i'd love to get a squad of them, just for some diversity in my normal marines. let me know how you get on!

There is no problem with the casting, asked GW staff and they said thats its like converting. But ofc for your own use. And i happen to be lucky owner of casting mold putty and tin bar!

This doesnt look too difficult, It actually looks like a fun conversion to do. It's definitely something worth trying to do- if I pull it off with any success Ill post pic's

Ten of these guys would probably make an awesome stern guard. Its enough to make me consider going back to SM.

Wow, I'm totally surprised the thread is still around. I've had threads closed down there for much less than that. (Don't get me wrong, I like B&C - they're just super strict with their IP policies). Those models look pretty incredible. Good luck, Alph!

There is no real IP problem. They do not produce the item that is being cast, its a custom piece that is being made. If he ever tried to sell them in mass to people, then they would have an IP suit to file.

So, hopefully I'm getting closer to getting this force going, so now, I really need help on picking a name for this chapter.

I'm seeing them as being more "high tech" than normal, a bit aloof and mysterious and from a rather 'out there' sector of the galaxy.

I can't come with anything that works for me yet, so any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
