My semester is coming to an end which means I have time for a couple new projects first of which is completing my Ork army in which I am going to be using a Deff Dread made out of a converted SM dreadnought.





It is ready and waiting to get butchered.

Looking good so far, but in my oppinion, theres not enough orkiness and way too much hurr going on here.

You gotta rip some of the dread-structure apart, especially the sarcophagus. theres gotta be a grot in there somewhere, and id like to see him

Even with the Jaws on it alone, it is awesome looking.

Flachzange: I am not going to rip the model apart for one the AOBR dreads aren't exactly the most amazing things so I kind of want to cover up how bad some of the gaps are between the acual peices. Also keep in mind this is far from done.

Here are a couple new pics I turned the multi melta arm into a giant saw didn't turn out as well as I had hopped but when it is painted should look fine. I will also be going into my local hooby store to get some other pasticard peices i want some huge exhaust stacks coming out of the back.

Orks know that da legs is da weakest part so you gotta protect them

Ok final update for the night. I trimmed the plates to look more like worked metal rivets and other gubins to come later, I also sharpened the saw blades though the picture doesn;t show it very well.

New update I went back and added alot of battle damage and made sure the armour plates looked like they were part of the model not just slabs haning off of it.

Looks good. I'd find a way to remove or cover the purity seal, it doesn't quite fit with the rest of the model.

This is the reason I am starting an Ork army. The conversion and personalization potential is vast. Love your idea for the Deff Dread. Just some small comments: I agree with above comment, the purity seal doesnt belong. Also, you may want to think about opening the sarchophagus (sp?) and putting a little grot in there. It would look so awesome if he was holding a bunch of wires and scratching his head "wot will happin if I kut dis wire ere'?"

It is still a deffdread so it is piloted by an Ork but ya I like the idea of having that but these AOBR dreads would take way too much work to make it's insides look anything decent and I want a fairly solid model. ya the purity seal will be gone in a couple of days am going to cover it with some green stuff and have a bunch of wires running from that arm to the back of the dread where they hardwired the saw onto it.

I want to do something with the other arm I am just not sure what yet. Was half tempted to make a giant Orky axe that it held but then the model would be too unwieldy to transport and I do intend to use this for acual games not just as a show peice though it can be both I suppose.

looking pretty sweet. TBO even leaving the purity seal on wouldnt really surprise me. gouge the pooh out of it sure, orks seem to not really care about the final details on their work. long as its runnin and stompin im sure they would be happy.

I would change the flag to heavy duty paper rather than plasticard, it will allow you to add in some waves and such, and will be thinner.

I am not sure how I am going to do the banner just yet, but ya the mock up I did was just a bic pen and a left over piece of plasticard it isn't what I plan on acually using.
