Oh, here and there.

What is the general consensus on using an Inquisitor Lord in an IG army? I don't really want to take anything else, just the Inquisitor Lord. Would this be a waste of points, like it seems, or are they good? I've never seen one on a tabletop in all the games I've played so I don't know what to expect.

Also, what is a good build? I have a no tanks, all heavy weapon and Infantry army of about 3000 points, I just want a cool model for once.

Thanks for the help!

Daemon Hunter Inquisitor Lord is does have the Leadership 10 if you want a Psychic hood for psyker defense. However an elite Inquisitor with two Hierophants to get Leadership 10 is just 36 pts. Adding 2 Mystics to the unit for anti deepstrike is nice especially if you are fielding a Leman Russ Demolisher or two. Add Warriors with heavy bolters to taste or mount them in a land raider.

Elite Inquisitors can't be made LD 10. 2 Heirophants just make it more difficult for Daemons to charge the =][=

For mystics alone, they are worth it. The guard player in our gaming group has been having some problems playing our new khorne/nurgle daemon player, and my current drop pod list.

The former deepstrikes a unit of plaguebearers in that get FNP even against battle/earthshaker cannons and are wounded by lascannons on a 6 (with a 5+invul and 4+ FNP). Needless to say, this unit has taken a few rounds of fire from a full guard army suffering a single wound each time in a couple of games, and caused the guard player some grief.

My army tends to drop pod a sternguard unit and two dreadnoughts, all with heavy flamers that absolutely eat guard. They're followed up by tacticals, whose bolters chew through whoever is left over.

Against both, a couple mystics allows heavy hitting specialist squads a free round of shooting into each unit. Deploying him near a leman russ would allow a free battle/demolisher cannon shot into each unit, or you could get a plasma-heavy command squad firing into a unit of terminators/plaguebearers, or a lascannon/meltagun squad firing into a dreadnought. Any of these would help out tremendously.

The squad really isn't that expensive, and it will quite possibly save you the game against a deepstriking army. Against lash, or other psyker armies, you gain the hood, and against other's he wasn't that big of a waste of points anyways. The real plus of the squad is the fear and doubt you'll put into that deepstriking opponent. Perhaps it will cause him to be just a little more cautious, allowing you an extra round of shooting that may tip the scales in your favour.

Folly not to run a Lord with mystics. The only question is if you give him the hood or not.

The amount of deep striking/drop podding armies today, and the extent to which they wreck static gunline armies, makes some sort of anti-striker defense a must-have.
