Another one surprised here, but that is the beauty of the poll

shame the bits wont be compatible with any of the rest of the WGA stuff (yet),

hopefully they'll try and size match either GW SF or Fantasy ogres (depending on which way the winners view goes) to give more options for conversion

i'm guessing he's thinking of these, but he could prefer the fat Mongolian or even the Shrek body type (or even something else)

and SF bits on the kit too, yes please & alternate heads (i'm up for a box any way but could grav a few more with enough variety possible)

Matthew Leahy anticipated Greg Thompson with a spider attack! Somewhere in Dacia most likely. Possibly in Wales.

As these prepare for release we are working on another Late Roman ARMY BUILDER set to help you bulk out your army while using up to 12 standards and command elements from the core box. Skirmish players will get all they need from the main box while those wanting to field a full army will be able to quickly and inexpensively build out your legions.

I cannot confirm timeframes.

As a personally thought, less than one.

If you are referencing the napoleonic spanish we've had to re-work them for tooling several times, hence the delay.

I’m going to get at least 3 boxes… beyond that? I’m not sure..

But… this kit would be perfect to throw some female parts in.., a female ogre could have arms and hands as large as a male… so one female torso and a couple heads wouldn’t be too disruptive as all of the other parts would work for everyone.

Oh mercy. Would that make it a niche within a nostalgia niche within a equal representation niche?

Joking aside, I hope they just let the people who voted for the kit vote on what it contains.

I didn't vote for these, (missed most rounds) but I will buy them. I fething love me some Ogres and they'll be perfect for my Empire Army that I plan to run across several different game systems once I start playing games again. Also definitely agree witht the two alternate headwear suggestions above.
Also wryly amused at all of the salt being thrown around in this thread about the madness involved. Like... check out some of WA's other kits - they're not scared to be in a niche, and I wonder if it's all that bad to be the only plastic kit available for a specific niche? Although I suspect that really, "the problem" is that it's not the preferred niche that other people have....

Size match I can get behind. Proportion match? feth no. GW Ogres are all terrible sculpts, right from the beginning through to the modern ones, with the possible exception of the Cursed City Ogre. And I think that is skirting the line. The newest Ogryn from Necromunda are ok as well, but the Ogryn in general haven't been as bad as the Ogres.

I can think of quite a few games where players will be able use those Ogres.

Kings of War, Warhammer Fantasy battles (all editions), Dragon Rampant, 9th Age, Oathmark, every other generic medieval fantasy setting mass combat game out there. Frostgrave (all versions), Rangers of Shadowdeep, Mordheim, Song of Blades and Heroes, all the other generic fantasy skirmish games out there. A good few Fantasy RPGs.

And they'll also work just fine with Age of Sigmar and Warcry.

I haven't seen any salt, just a general bewilderment. I wouldn't say WGAs other kits are niche. Lizardmen, giant spiders, skeleton warriors, etc. are pretty generic and have lots of uses. Their other options for the most part fill well-established centers of demand in the market. Landsknecht Ogres on the other hand are a particularly specific thing that have potentially limited utility/very narrow and specific range of uses, and quite likely a very limited market as a result - a lot of people who want Ogre minis won't necessarily want Landsknecht Ogre minis. The suggestion to include Conquistador and Pirate heads is a good 'un as it will at least give the kit some additional versatility and hopefully expand the audience of people who would be willing to buy them.

I say this, by the way, as someone who owns several hundred Ogre minis of various manufacture and style collected over the past 20 years - including about a dozen Conquistador Ogres and around 80 Pirate Ogres. I probably won't buy WGAs Ogre kit regardless of what it contains, but thats not because I have a "problem" with regards to a preferred niche, its because I quite honestly already have more Ogres than I can ever actually use.

YES! I know the winner gets to advise what goes on the kit but please consider a female ogre or two. There are so few female ogre models and none in plastic as far as I know.

of course there are a lot of games you can use them
Ogres in AoS have still the bad plastic stuff that is by far the worst GW ever made as core infantry but than those who play Ogres like them and play the army for the monsters

Problem is that Landsknecht is a very specific theme that won't fit with most other models out there
Use them to replace the core infantry of AoS Ogres or even instead of Stormcast is a possibility, but a very niche one as most people won't make a whole army from it as it don't fit the monsters you still need

by the usual options the WGA boxes have, an Ogre Box will have all the options to make the standard Kings of War Ogre Army (Arquebuse, two-handed swords, one-handed swords for left and right arms, helbard/lance, shield) or Stormcast Army
yet I doubt a lot of people are going for the specific style:
Spoiler:

so adding some more bits would be necessary to make a wider theme, pistols, tricorne, sabre for pirates, etc

Harry, bring this ring to Narnia or the Sith will take the Enterprise

Personally, they were an unknown want...until I saw them...now I have them.

What to do with them is an unimportant question that just gets in the way of the 'want' and 'need'.

I'm seeing myself with 3 as well, maybe a touch more depending on how many models are in a box and how well it turns out. But as I noted earlier in the thread, I am a sucker for traditionally monstrous races in a more civilized light and enjoy ogres in general.

Full agreement on the female option, would be a neat inclusion, and also something that I do not believe many other companies have made.

Man, if there are sci fi bits too...I already had enough fun mixing Warhammer Fantasy Ogres and the Ogryn kit together, if the scale is even close to matching it would be pretty awesome throwing greatswords or halberds on Bullgryn or slab shields onto a Landsjbecht with a laser gun.

Here's hoping the kit turns out well!

Pirate bits are a good call, that would sell me a box I think. But of all the bits, to maximize sale, I'm convinced it is most important to have the full Kings of War arsenal, as outlined by kodos. If you can build a full mass battle army out of the one kit, competing only against GW's fat joke Ogres and Mantic's skipped-leg-day restic, then it might have a bright future.
