Didn't GW say on one of the twitch steams that one of the six house gangs was not getting prospects? I'm starting to think that might end up being Cawdor, and this book will actually include 2 separate gangs. It's possible the new redemptionists are going to function on their own, and not just as alternate options for a cawdor gang.

It has been repeated many times, and frankly I don't care which gang doesn't get prospects. It is quite a boring preview and I didn't care for any of the released prospects either. Not even caring for prospects being a thing in Necromunda. Only interesting part about them is the possibility to convert them to juves, who should have dedicated minis instead of juves2 and champs2.

New gang might come with new weapon bits, and that's probably the most hopeful thing about it.

Although I do hope they do drop the "Cawdor is poor, here's a barely cheaper but absolute trash weapons that you can't drop" meme. It's neither well written nor funny.

We can't let people drop their weapons! That would encourage modelling, kitbashing and... third party bitz makers!!!

It's a giant chainsaw.... THAT one- looks just Like a chainsaw. Personally I think it's too small, but that just might be because I'm used to giant Ork Choppah-saws and Titan weapons...

ANd for the record, I love giant chainsaws....
I could think of no better additional weapon, then a flame thrower attached to the chainsaw. My two favorite weapons... In one!

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

But there are no surprises here, these minis were previewed a month ago? The cawdor one I think I saw last year.

The chainsword one we've not seen before I think, don't quote me at that.

I was honestly expecting them to be in one set. They do release single models every so often, but its usually named heroes (and even then, there's usually a chance they come in packs of two.) Hopefully the Orlocks don't cost more than the Hive Scum set, which is $31 or $35, I think?

I'll believe that the Orlocks are one set when we see it listed as one set. The Escher Champions are available only as individuals but I believe they had a similar group promo shot.

On the assumption that WHC haven't been given duff information by FW, they specifically call out "two new releases" before talking about the "Orlock Champion and Gangers" and "Rattus Tatterskin" items.

That seems fairly clear, but I understand why you may be skeptical.

Baxx et al - Are the models themselves a surprise? No. Is the potential release of them as one set rather than up to three blisters a surprise? After the individual Escher Champions... yes.

Well, they're up:

https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Necromunda-Orlock-Champion-And-Gangers-2021

Three champions for £21. As opposed to the Escher ones at £19 a pop. Talk about inconsistant gak pricing. Either that or the Escher ones sold disappointingly from their view.

Yeah, at £7 each they’re certainly more palatable, if ill defined as ‘cheap’.

Colour me pleasantly surprised. Now, if we get confirmation their arms are compatible with the rest of the Orlock stuff, I’ll be even more pleasantly surprised.

Sometimes you do wonder if GW's prices are set at random by throwing darts at a board. What's really annoying is that clearly this is a reaction to poor sales from previous releases and the prices being set to high, but instead of repacking and adjusting the price on others they've kept them as is. So GW CAN respond to sales being too low due to high price, but won't backtrack.

Which is really odd when surely they know that there are many Escher customers who are not Orlock customers at the same time.

The real point here is : you were wrong about the price of the orlock gangers.

Don't try to deflect on the Eschers. Yep, they were sold badly and now they're correcting it for the orlocks.

It's not that odd, actually...because the people who bought the eschers at the "wrong price" would be right to be upset. I'm part of them, mind you.

It's the same reason why they didn't change the price on Varanguard for AoS.

Besides, setting prices is always set "at random" - at the amount the marketing department thinks the customers will be ready to buy. It's never a proved science. That's how trade works in the real world, everywhere. It's not specific to GW or FW.

I'm always surprised with this mindset. How do these people deal with a world where supermarket discounts are a regular occurence?
A cheaper repacking would be good for customers, and that's a good thing. "I got my arm cut off in an industrial accident,it'd be unfair if we put safety measures so future users don't get mangled!"

Exactly, sure you'd be annoyed that you bought something at a higher price than it is now, but you've had it for longer. Plus GW lowering prices would be a huge boon. Perhaps it would mean instead of 2 Escher leaders you were then able to buy and equip many more with different weapons.

And yeah as pointed out many markets devalue. Heck GW is unique in that its products typically increase in retail value rather than decrease (at least direct from manufacturer, I'm not including the secondhand market etc...).

I had one data point to go from: Massively overpriced Escher miniatures. Was it unreasonable to assume that Forge World would continue to be witches when it came to their pricing? Besides, me being wrong about them is a good thing for everyone.

Except you.

Who bought the overpriced Eschers.

Well done.

With you on the annoyance. Takes the piss

I bought one of the Eschers for use as a champion but not the rest as they're too overpriced. If they re-bundle them, I'd re-consider and use the duplicate for conversion fodder

Well, as others have said, they're on par with the Hive Scum, which is decent pricing, in terms of FW.

But why is Rattus $30? Is he that good of a model, sculpt wise or rules wise?

And it's more worrying that you think there is a different, when it comes right down to it. You can use them as champs. You can use them as gangers. You can use them as leaders for anyone cares. Same applies to all the standard plastic ones as well. They're only 'Champions' because that's what FW decided to call them. They're still just 28mm figures that don't differ in any significant or important fashion from their plastic counter parts, yet one group costs $48 and the other group inexplicably costs $132.

This is correct. The new orlocks can be used as leader (all 3), champs (all 3), specialist champ (2), specialist ganger (all 3), ganger (2), juve (1). Note that FW chose to call the chainsword for chainsaw, so what they choose to label the content as doesn't matter too much.

They have done in the past - IIRC the Legion Outrider Squadron (the 30k bikers) dropped in price a few weeks after their release.
