The sink.

I'm building up a demon force and I'm wondering: do I really need icons in all my units? The ones that can take them anyways. Wouldn't it be ok to have 2 icons in each wave and call it good? That way I have (hopefully) two icons left to DS off of for the over wave.

And as for instruments of chaos ... are they worth it? Sure they're cheap, but how often does a demon unit draw in close combat?

From personal experience using two daemonette squads, a bloodletter squad and a plaguebearer squad over a few games, most of my fights involving daemonettes and bloodletters wouldn't have been changed by an instrument. Plaguebearers, for me have tended to slim enough margins where I'm adding instruments to my squads in the future.

As far as icons go, it depends on how many fronts you're expecting to be fighting. Honestly, you can get by with an icon per 1000 points or so unless you're using a lot of bloodcrushers and bloodletters.

I tend to only have two icons now, one in each half. One is in a unit of plague bearers the other in a unit of crushers. Both have a high T and for the enemy to take out one of those two units requires a lot of shooting, so they generally ignore the rest - and then the secod wave onwards turns up where you want it brill!

As for instrument, I only ever take one and thats in my unit of crushers. The only reason is that then I have 4 of them, one with Rending, one with icon, one with instrument. All four are armed differently s under the new wound allocation rules do a great job increasing the survivability!
