So after quite a long break from the game (3rd/4th ed) I'm getting into it again, painting up a new army and starting to put a more serious army list together than I have before.

While I'm not 100% on space marine tactics at this point (any useful links would be awesome ), the general idea I'm going for is fast attack with some big gun support.

So far it looks like this:

HQ
1 Librarian in termy armour with sbolter
1 Captain, jump pack with 2x lightning claws

Command squad, 1 veteran with banner, 1 company champion, 1 flamer vet, 1 boltgun/cc wep vet, and 1 apothecary

Troop
2 Offensive concept tactical squad -> 10 marines, one with flamer or melta (the new codex doesn't let you min/max anymore >.< )
Rhino transport for offensive tactical squads

2 Defensive concept tactical squad -> 10 marines, one with plasma gun and one with an appropriate heavy weapon for the enemy force

1 sniper scout squad x5
1 bolter scout squad x5
-sergeant has teleport homer for termies to get up close and personal quickly
-is sergeant telion worth it?
-auspex isn't listed under available wargear for scouts, can they have one?

Elite
Assault Terminators x5
maybe Sterngaurd Vets at some point

Fast Attack
Vanguard Vets x5
Assault squad x5
Land Speeder Squadron x3 (with missile attachments likely, and assault cannon)

Heavy Support
Dreadnaughts x4 with a wide variety of armaments
Land Raider Crusader
Land Raider
Vindicator
Whirlwind

Heavy support is leftover from grey knights, minus the vind and ww that i need to buy still
I don't take bike marines as they're expensive for what you get :(
Attack bikes are fugly but I'll prob consider getting some in the future..
I'll definitely get a chaplain with a jump pack when I can, as the reroll combat misses is amazing

the number of models listed in each squad is preliminary, as time goes on I will add to the list

Some general questions about new rules:
can command squads take dedicated transports still? they don't have the listing in their unit entry
when it says 'may replace bolter/chains sword for' does that mean that the unit can take say, a power weapon (1h wep) and a storm bolter (2h wep) and use them together?
it would seem logical that they could, but i'm not sure
i'll think of more as time goes on i'm sure
also, they're really well painted (imo) as that's the main reason i buy the models lol..so ill post pics today or tomorrow of what I've done so far

thanks for reading!

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.

The hardest hitting units in the game are Terminators.
I'd take 10 Assault Termies and 10 normal Termies, not in one game but either or.
Assault Marines or Vanguard Veterans are only good if you can support them, say in a RavenGuard army.

Armies: Eldar, Necrons, Blood Angels, Grey Knights; World Eaters (30k); Bloodbound; Cryx, Circle, Cyriss

I'd take Black Templars, 5 terminator squads of 5 with two assault cannons each-just like the old days.....

Or, 3 LR with two assault squads and a couple of squads of infantry......
