Been seeing a lot of threads recently where Lysander gets attached to a squad of terminators. Not saying that it isn't a good idea (good synergy with the massed thunder hammers) but it some ways its overkill. Lysander doesn't really add that much to a terminator assault squad compared to having extra bodies with their own thunder hammers.

It seems to me that there's another good squad he can attach to: Sternguard.

Attaching Lysander to Sternguard means that the lethality of the sternguard gets increased significantly, as all those special ammunition shots get re-rolled ''to-hits" and it makes the sternguard much better in HTH combat.

Got a buddy who's been running that combo, and its pretty brutal. He usually doesn't combat-squad them, unless he's running against an all-mech opponent. The extra hits (statistically, its about 4-5 extra hits from the special ammo) seems to make the difference between crippling, and wiping out.

Yes!

Especially when you have Kantor in the army as well, making those Sternguard scoring.

I agree.

The problem I have with Sternguard is at the end of the day, they are just Marines. But a Character like Lysander should increase the effectiveness of them significantly.

200 points is alot for a babysitter that gives 4-5 extra hits. you could get 8 sternguards for that, thats just about 12 more hits and 16 attacks in CC oh and 8 wounds
