Subject: BFG-A question of scale

Hello! I have been pondering about starting BFG, if so I would play an Ork fleet , Because i am a tight-arse, I would make my ships out of Plasticard instead of buying them on the interwebs, however, to do so I need to know how big to make them, can anyone provide the measurements? Or take a picture next to a 28mm mini to give me a rough idea?
thanks in advance

I was about to give an idea but decided against it simply because I don't think I am accurate. My own DE Cruiser (scratch built) is about 2.5 inches long. The escorts are about half that.

OK, I guess the Ork ships are a bit shorter than that, which gives me a rough idea

Technically all measurements should be taken from the flying-base stem, with the area affect, ship ramming etc being worked out off the flying-base base. Big flying-bases for battleships, small flying bases for cruisers and escorts. So as long as you use the right flying base, and can distinguish what the ship is supposed to be, technically you can make your ships any size you like. Go Go eldar biro-pen lid escorts!!
