I've been thinking about those new Chaos Knight models for fantasy, and I think they'd be awesome to convert and use as 40K bikers. lol.
Here are a few reasons I came up with:

1- the box costs about $30 and comes with 5 knights, while a single biker costs $15

2- I already have a squad of Chaos Marines converted from Fantasy Chaos Warriors, so the 'bikers' would match.

3- The knights just look awesome lol.

What do you all think? If someone fielded dudes on horses and said they were bikers, would you be cool with it? Also, I'm wondering if they may need new rules... like instead of counting as bikes, count them as cavalry, like the rough riders. Get rid of the hyperboost ability and the 'all difficult terrain is dangerous' thing.

%99 of the time I see someone use chaos knights as bikers (or worse bloodcrushers) I was think "what a cheapass." You would be the %1 of the people who can pull it off (since your marines are already chaos warriors.

You definatily can't mess with the rules that a big no-no. Put them on bike bases and you'll be fine.

I always liked the models too.
If it fits in with the rest of your army, then you should go for it.

The cavalry rules aren't quite as good as the bike rules, so there shouldn't be any balance issues with switching them out.

Paint the horses metallic, sort of like they are a highly stylized sort of mechanism, like those steam and clockwork things that the ancient Greeks would make, with the twin-linked bolters mounted on the neck. That's exactly the sort of insanity that 40K has lost sight of since 2nd edition.

XD I don't want the horses to look like bikes... lol they'd just 'count' as bikes. I want them to have the look of 'Ancient warriors of Chaos mounting demonic horses and charging into battle with boltpistols and chainswords!' lol...

@The Grundel Cheap ass? i think deciding on getting into a hobby such as this is far from being a cheap ass.


@Karoline Go for it, dont need to do anything with the horse just find a way to put on the TL bolters on them and let the player know at the start of the game.

Make them like nightmare ghost horses or something. You know, being all daemonic like, they'd be all... 'hey look guys, I can defy physics! Look at me run at turboboost speeds while I devour souls! Give me a carrot!'

And make sure you give the knights weaponry that would reflect the times.

but hey, since my army is Slaanesh-based... what should the horses look like? I was thinking black horses with flaming mane, tail, and hooves... but that seems a little too... Khorny XD

any ideas other than just making them purple?

make the horses black and their barding slaanesh colors. because pink horses just sound odd.

Dark purple flaming mane, pink skin, bright red eyes with very small, yellow pupils. Perhaps lots of spikes and spurrs piercing the skin, to imply that they find pleasure through pain. (Oh, come on! We all know that the Keeper of Secrets SCREAMS BDSM!)

For the horse itself just do a plain black basecoat, then for the metal try Boltgun Metal, inked black with an extreme highlight of Mithril Silver, then cover with marks of slaanesh in Tentacle Pink (or 1:1 Warlock Purple to Skull White)

deep purple skin highlight up to either light purple or even pink.. orange manes, tails and hooves with a bit of yellow/white in there too. and make their armor bronze or brass..

I used the new plastic Chaos knights in combination with bitz, and Space Marine bikes. Well worth the investment for my Nurgle bikes

i did this already, and it was rather well recieved, although they aren't painted yet.

i also used marauders and marauder horsemen as the basis of a traitor guard army to go with it, and i've never met anyone who's bothered

i'd say go for it
