Subject: Forgeworld Titan Base - Ideas ?

Hiho there,
since Forgeworld isn't selling any bases for their Titans and I just ordered an Eldar Revenant Titan, I was wondering how other people make them ?
Most Forgeworld-Pics show fine modelled bases, properly made out of wood, any ideas ?

Most peolple I know either go to trophy stores who have a wide selection of precut oval and circular bases, know someone who has the tools to do it, or go to a craft/hardware store and buy precut wood bases.

I am going to drive to some stores after work, any idea about how big the base has to be ? (is there a minimal-size according to the apocalypse rulebook?)

There isn't one, I have a couple 8 inch round base set aside for my warhounds. that just happens to be what they look good on. i would wait and see how large your titan is before you pick your base, just go with what looks good

You will need to ensure both feet will fit on the base and that it is unlikely to tip over.
People tend to model the revanent fairly dynamically so the tipping factor would be the big problem.
Here is a dakka article on building a FW revanent.

The base is exactly the style I'd use but is probably 2 inches too wide (diameter)

Personally, I don't base my titans. The only one I did base was my warhound and that was just on a masonite outline of his feet. I made it about a half-inch wider all around the foot/toes.
I don't like the idea of basing them because I want the ability to put my titan inside a ruined building if I want/need to.

I would base them. Ghiddy makes an extremely good point, so maybe consider making it removable from it's base, but I had a reaver do a back somersault of a table to a carpeted floor once. No damage ( I still don't see how), but I will be basing anything in the future with a COG anywhere NEAR that high.

Thanx for the link, nice tutorial, but do you guys really think that it's necessary to use some rod to connect the body-pieces properly ?
(Sorry for my bad english )

Yes, by all means pin that sucker with some serious rod! I would try to do it without actually adhereing the limbs to the body nor the legs to the base, so it can break down for transit and storage into a small volume. I failed to do that with my now-former legio, and with 8 titans the storage boxes took up half the bed of my Tacoma. I can do that because I have a wife who is a real game-enabler and who gets a kick out fo such things. FEW others can say that.

No need to pin to achieve this result. Two of these babies per joint and you'll be sturdy AND transportable.

Seconded on the 'I hate you'. I would think that some basing underfoot would suffice. Just enough to not let it get knocked over when a fairy farts. Then you'll be able to plunk it down amongst the troops and have something to trample underfoot. A huge-a senic base looks cool, but having a photo of your opponent's models underneath is just: Priceless.
