Subject: Alternate Blood Bowl Mini Manufacturers?

This last week, I had some friends out from New York and to commemorate the playing of football Bowl games, I dug out my old Blood Bowl rules and my Skaven team for a game. One game turned into two turned into three...Blood Bowl players know how that goes. Anyhow, by the time my friends had to head back home, I had them hooked on the game - one even talking about wanting a Skaven Team of his own. So, I'm planning on buying them their own copy of the game, and want to buy and paint them up two teams as presents (one in NY Giants colors and the other in NY Jets colors). One of the teams will definitely be a Skaven team, but I haven't decided on what to buy for the other team. I'm pretty familiar with GW's Blood Bowl teams and this morning took a look at ShadowForge's female football teams. Does anyone know of any other manufacturers that make models that would be appropriate for Blood Bowl?

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack |

You could try and convert some of the normal fantasy minatures into blood bowl.

Have a look here.
Haven't ordered anything from them personally (yet), so no idea how's the quality of the casting and sculpts, sorry.

Dont forget Heresy mins either , its not a full range but some nice figs in there. And in case you did not see it , The Human team from GW is new(er) sculpts. ALL of the figs are differat, not a one is a duplicate which is really cool and rare from GW. They are putting out a new Griff Oberwald fig as well.

I can recommend Impact Miniatures as suggested earlier in the thread. I have their Pharoahs of Viktoria team and the sculpts and casting are excellent. Not to mention they've got practically the biggest range of fantasy football figures going

Yeah, GW's metal human minis actually look pretty good - much better than the plastics that come with the box set. The pose on the thrower holding the ball with both hands is particularly nice - looks like someone actually modeled it on a picture of a football player rather than what they think a football player should look like.
@Valax - Thanks for the Impact link - there's a lot of really cool stuff in there (in particularly I'm thinking about the Pharoah team for myself).
@Howard - Hasslefree's stuff is nice, but they've only got like 4 or so models and I'm not sure I could put together a team of them.
I have been giving some thought to converting up a couple teams - Orcs seem particularly amenable to this, while Skaven. on the other hand, less so.

Good question. I'd try to convert from fantasy miniatures first also. There's some 40k stuff that might work even better.
