I'm debating the utility and point sink that is the seer council. They hit and wound well (especially with doom), but maybe I'd be better off with 10 harlequins? they wont wound as much but they have rending attacks and I can slap two fusion guns in there as well.

Harlequins didn't fair so well in fifth, so I'd be careful, also keep in mind rending got a mild nerf, and that harlequins dont get fusion guns, they get fusion pistols, 6 inch range, 3 inch to get the melta rule, I've always found them pretty useless, as harlequins will be chasing troops, if they shoot a vehicle, its usually a pretty big waste of an expensive squad for something another eldar unit does better.

I was also running 1 council, 2 councils, 1 giant council, 2 small councils, etc etc, and every possible way in between. After lots of testing, my feeling is that, unfortunatley, as much as I love it, I don't think they're worth the points they chew up in your list.

As to the general comments, my only problem is, its a relatively slow footslogger eldar list. You have no real mobile objective grabbers, and eldar in general isn't very survivable (6 dragons on foot will get shot to bits before they get to see a tank to melt) and 20 dire avengers will get shot/burnt to minimize your scorers.

In my experience, a hybrid approach is best. Keep your solid foot, maybe drop the council and toss the farseer into the wraithguard, they greatly benefit from a fortune. Give the DA's a couple serpents, and one for the fire dragons, and I'd like the list much better.

I was pondering a transport for the dragons at least, but I'm worried that it'll just attract fire and get taken out before it does anything useful. The only saving grace is that with 10 wraithguard, 2 Wraithlords, and an Avatar I have a lot of bullet soakers out there.

Less than you'd think, Avatar isnt the best bullet sponge unless fortuned, currently your fortune is tied into the council.

Its why i, and yes, I hate it too, run eldrad. He fortunes himself and the wraithguard, and then can fortune the avatar in front (when I run a similar build to this).

I wouldnt run 1 serpent either, I'd go 3 or 0, as you're right, 1 tank in this list would get picked on a bit.

If you can take eldrad instead of seer council and an avatar that is the way to go with footslogging list.

I'd definately try and get some transports for your dire avengers/fire dragons.
Having transports for your troops that can take them really gives you a lot of tactical options and draws anti-tank fire away from wraithguard/avatar/wraithlords!

Jesus Christ changed my life, He can do the same for you!

*Looks up at eldrad* I think I'm going to be sick.

I tried taking enough transports to make it viable but that caused me to completely rework the list and as I've already started compiling the army buying 4 serpents wasnt a smart move financially.
