I am always(though rarely) impressed when someone gets a 1 for Run or Fleet and doesn't end up moving there models 2-3 inches as is generally fashionable.

How about a 1 is always a 2? It's hard to imagine the whole squad tripping at the same time.

No, pretty much cause I run a shooting army and that kind of thing doesn't make me a happy camper.

However Assault armies would love it so more power to ya!

Look if you make the one a two automatically then people will start to negate ones from other parts of the game or most likely try to. I can say your point because rolling a one is so demoralizing but isn't it in any part of the game?

Fine, but when my Leman Russes fire and roll 6's to scatter they only count as 5's, because I mean, there's no way that they would scatter that badly right?

And my shooting troops all get to reroll 1's to hit and 1's to wound, because there's no way that they could miss that badly!

Same with Armor Penetration, 1's should count as 2's.

Can of worms.

He's both, his scarcasim points out the problem with the idea. Can of worms is the seriousness of it, if 1's count as something else then all 1's would have to count for something else....then 2's become the new 1's.

In general, I would like to completely remove the randomness from running and just make running a flat 3 inches (or maybe 4) every time. Then you could make fleet units always run 6 and they would actually be faster than non fleet unit...not just better at assault.

That makes more sense. Running should be a flat distance, not random. My Hormagaunts should be faster running across open ground than an Imperial Guardsman or even a Space Marine. It's what they are designed to do.

The point is almost nobody moves 1 inch anyways. They roll a 1 and instead of moving the base forward one base length they move it at least 1.5 inches.

Also I am joking but I don't see any problem with the suggestion. I find it funny that you guys think this would snowball somehow.

Why don't we just bring back the movement characteristic?


Like humans and orks and Mureenz and Necrons are M4, Eldar are M5 and Tyranids are M5 or M6, and run is double movement with no shooting allowed.

I like the randomness.

Ork declares a WAAAGH and then rolls a 1 for Run and a 2 for assaulting through cover and can't reach assault this turn, giving me another turn to shoot. Good stuff.

This is of course that the Ork army is the 1 ork army that *didn't* take Gazgul...
