Well, horde armies are by all means viable at least. Most of your units have cover saves thanks to 5th edition rules.
Take a Big Mek with a Kustom Force Field. Giving your front units a 5+ cover save is a lifesaver, and could possibly give your entire army a cover save of some kind.
Both slugga and shoota boyz are viable. A squad of 20 Slugga boyz has 80 S4 attacks on-the-charge. Shoota boyz should be taken if the rest of your army is shooty.
Stormboyz are beautiful. Take lots of them and fly across the battlefield. Get them to soften up units for the rest of your units or take smaller squads and send them after shooty units. However, they are less effective if you take Shoota boyz because you can't shoot into close combat.
Use Battlewagons or Looted Wagons as your heavy support. Fire some pie-plates over the table to soften up resistance from hard units like Termies.
Just my two cents.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Kommandos are great for throwing a Monkey Wrench in your opponent's plans, especially when used with Snikrot. I feel they work best in 12+ sized mobs and if you are going to take special weapons take burnas (for use as power weapons or template death) or Rokkits (to shoot at vulnerable side/rear armor. Big Shootas are best placed elsewhere. Some are fond of taking small Kommando squads with Big Shootas and using them as harrassing units. I've not tried this.

What I have seen in the past, and the advice I am getting for my own Ork army seems to center around the theme of having about 60 Boyz as the starting core (either 2 units of 30 or 3 of 20), along with something hard and/or speedy (Nob bikes, 4 Meganobz in a Trukk, Warboss+Nobz in a trukk, Snikrot + Kommandos, etc.), so that you can tie up the enemy's shootiest units while your boyz slog it across the field. If you go with the KFF Mek and don't want to do a Warboss, I have been thinking that a Warphead would be a nice addition to a slogging army, given his ability to occasionally give you extra Waaaghs. A more reliable (but pricey) option for a single extra Waaagh is Ghazkul.
Cheese Elemental's advice is pretty sound, too, imo, just never ever forget that in a footslogger army, you need masses and masses of boyz, as you WILL take a mountain of casualties, but hey, you're an Ork, it's what we do!

Ghaz doesn't give you an extra WAAAGH!, he improves the one you already have. And hell, does he improve it!
Ghaz is a must-have for footslogging horde armies, but only at 1500+ should you take him. You get a super-WAAAGH!, and a dead-'ard character who can take down Abbadon.
Another viable option for footslogger hordes is Killa Kans. BS 3, one of the only walker squadrons in the game, and able to carry the Termie-killing KMB. Also amazing at tieing up enemies.
Yet another option is a Deff Dread. 2 Skorchas and Grot Riggers only costs 90 points. People say they suck, I say they're underpriced for what they can do. And, if you have a Big Mek, you can make him a Troops choice, so he can be right on top of your enemy in Dawn of War deployment! Not many units survive a Deff Dread assault. He is absolutely deadly against Necrons, who can't take squad Powerfists.
Kommandos are awesome. If you're gonna take some, take a full squad with 2 Burnas and Snikrot. Costs 200-something points, but for what you get it's worth it. There's nothing more fear-inspiring than Orks coming from both sides of the table.
Remember the Orky Goldin' Rule: Boyz before Toyz!

Ok and I was looking at 15 lootas 10 nobz and 15 kommandos as my elite. However I am rethinking the nobz because 15 more lootas may be more useful.
As for my individual squads I have 60 boyz total, 3 20 man squads. Each with a nob and power klaw and a rokkit.
Thats all ive gotten so far

Dont throw away the Nobs that easy.
In my 1500p setup I have 10 Nobs together with my War boss. I use Painboy upgrade and 2-3 PK. Thanks to the painboy the opponent needs to deal in theory 46 wounds to wipe the squad, assuming that I pass all leadership rolls. This mob is deadly with 3-4 PK attacks.
And with a warboss you get them as troop choise.
My opponents often hate my nob squad and tries to kill them off quickly, quite often they forget abou the 100 other models in the army ; )

Well I thought of that but I do like Gazeghall as my HQ due to the Waagh he gives. As for nobz I dunno maby but at 20pts a pop and then another 25pts per PK there more expensive than megaarmored nobz.

Megas are slow, in order to get them to comabt before the game ends you need to get them a BW or trukk, that costs too....
