Since Augustus turned me on to the idea, I've been trying different combinations of bits to make some dinosaur riding space elves. The new Dark Elf Cold One Knights work very nicely, but their armor and weaponry lend them to be more effective converting into shining spears. More on them later...

However, I found the Lizardmen Saurus Cavalry to pair up a little better with Guardians, with the benefit of coming 8 to a box as opposed to 5. Combined with Guardian bodies, heads, and arms and Wood Elf Wild Rider Legs, they get a blob of GS molded into a saddle. They'll count as Guardian Jetbikes as soon as I get the 30mm bases for them. I've got four done so far, sans the Shuri-cannon which is being put on one of the old chariot cold ones, but I'll have 12 once I get them all assembled and painted. I'll also get some warlocks converted up to join them.

Sorry if the pic is blurry. Our camera's new and I'm still working to figure the thing out. It seems like it randomly chooses to focus or not, even on the macro setting. This is the first exodite installment in my exodite/craftworld team up army with more to come. Anyway, let me know what you think.

i did a squad of these in 2nd edition based with high elf dragon knights on velociraptors and titan weapons as the lances. Just dismanteled them last year. but i have been pondering redoing them. Kewl job would love to see more.

I think I've seen something similar on Dakka before. Very nice idea, good luck with it. I prefer the chunky old Cold Ones myself...

Ohhh nooo! Goh-Zee-Rah! I've got two of the old cold ones that are from the dark elf chariot and you can tell they're pretty dated. I don't mind much since my army is a mixed bag of every edition of 40K since Rogue Trader. One of my Dire Avengers is actually a very early metal guardian, as is one of my Harlies - holding a power sword and shuripistol but has a shuriken rifle strapped across his back.


I picked up one of the Tamiya dinosaur models on ebay yesterday. Here's hoping that the dimensions are close enough to a Wave Serpent/Falcon/Fire Prism that I'll be able to counts-as once I kitbash it.

My counts-as Silver Spears riders got primed yesterday and once I finish painting my Dark Reapers and my Striking Scorpion Wraithlord, they'll get their turn under the brush. I just need to figure out how to mount the shuricats to the Cold Ones...

Then it's on to Harlies, Storm/Defender Guardians (I'll magnetize the squad so they'll be equipped for either role), Heavy Weapon platforms, the custom-built Warlocks and Farseer I've almost got done. Once I get more guardian bodies (courtesy of Arktic Firangi!), I'll be able to complete the remaining 8 Exodite Cavalry.

Eventually I'll get around to painting my son's Necrons!

why dont you try using knarlocs as your wave serpents? thatd be kinda expensive though. :x

I looked at the Great Knarlock for a transport alternative, but the model is very krootish and not as dino as I'd like to keep my Exodites - who are, after all, dinosaur riding elves in space.

The tamiya model arrives no later than next week and I look forward to kitbashing it with some warwalker bits, plsticard, and greenstuff.
