Group hug social distancing , group photo at 6’ scale distancing .

So the two giants Ive shown previously have now been joined by a chaos giant (still some bits I could print to do on to him, but they are like an 80’s rappers chain and some baskets to put on his waist, so not really important. Also in photo is an Ogress in samurai/bushi/ one style all facing one halfling D&D monk. The thing in front is the twin spiky tail of a Dragon ogre Shaggoth. That’s half the tail length . For size idea the tail is 4” long from the joint on here to the furthest tip. There’s another section of tail before it reaches the body . I don’t think he is compensating like the naked giant .

The tail is showing how much material I’m using right now as I’ve run into an issue with prints not staying on the bed. I’ve started using “Rafts” as supports on everything with an extra 15mm space around the bottom of the supports to get good adhesion, so far I haven’t had any pops. I figure the cost of the filament is so low so using up extra really isn’t like wasting GW paint.

I'd close the door, but their litter pans are down here in the basement and I don't want to clean up the messes I'd find elsewhere.

Surely there is an Ender3 anti-cat mod that you can get for that? or maybe a Perspex box to put over it when nature calls?

Sounds like you might want to look at an enclosure for when you are away. That article is a little silly in places, but just gives you an idea what you can do, depending on how much you really want to spend.

Once I added painter's tape to my magnetic bed piece, I improved my adhesion ten fold. It is a cheap and quick fix while still keeping the mag plate flexibility. Use the 2" wide blue tape and just place the strips across right next to each other with no gaps.

When the bed cools you will see some wrinkles, but when the bed heats up and it expands a bit, it smooths it all out. I just give it a smooth over before printing begins, so i keep the same tape on for numerous prints.

This allowed me to just use skirts - I think I have about 8-10 outlines and that seems to keep it down good and not use a ton of material will still being easy to remove. This is for PLA and PLA+ - this might not work with ABS. I never tried ABS on my Ender, since I think heating up the bed to the temp needed for ABS you will lose the magnetic adhesion and have to use tapes/clips to keep it on the bed.

Keep up the great work - you are getting a suitably gribbly collection of giants going!!

So I tried the painters tape, but it bubbled off before the print even started. Guess I need better painters tape, but it’s the blue sure edge stuff.

Found a few neat sculpts. Had to do this guy right away.

Asian Dragon, wrapped around a crystal/stone outcropping. I changed the size to almost fit on a 50x50 square base.

I also found a couple Torii to print and giant (for 28mm scale) goldfish which I want to try and print and see if I can’t use some samurai cavalry models to ride magic fish .

Yeah, I thought it was really great style wise. I hope it works alongside my Malifaux shadow emissary(I think that’s what it was called ).

Well the only Cat-astrophy I’ve had lately is Thisbe Manticore getting too much of a pedicure when I was cutting the supports off . I shipped two of his feet cleanly off. They have been glued back on now.

I scaled him to fit a 50mm square base for game use, his wings will spread out further than the base, but that’s fine. I think that scaled him to a decent size, Zombicide dude for scale size.

Can’t remember how big they are supposed to be, according to GW models they are bigger than trash trucks. I like the actual lion size with added wings and pointy tail added on.

The Chimera I’m printing though is as big as a small house. Different heads, snake tail and build of an elephant I guess .

Manticore looks great (and I'm glad to know he prints ok, I need to do one for our next DnD game and I think that's the file I have prepped). Scale looks about right to me, GW's take is much bigger, but DnD/Pathfinder et al set them om 50mm nases.

What kind of Chimera are we talking, the DnD style 3 heads at the font, or the hilarious/awesome ancient Greek original with the goat neck just sticking out of the back?

It’s this Chimera by M3DM.

A designer who does his makes for D&D games. Looks solid to me.

Started the goldfish, forgot to put supports in on it. Scale looked too small also so I bumped it up to 25mm wide. Might make it harder for a rider to fit, we will see.

That Thingverse chimera is thikk
I like the pose and faces of the animals though. It's interesting that it have the lion, dragon, and goat heads like a D&D chimera, but has the snake tail like a mythological chimera.
Sorry to hear about the manticore, I'll glad you have gotten the feet back on already.

Well some people say the Great Wall in China was to keep the Mongol horde at bay. I think it was to keep the Goldfish out . In the Midwest we have a major problem with Asian Carp in the waterways. They are an invasive species brought to the US. They jump out of the water and smack boatists, even killing a few by knocking them out and them falling overboard.

This brave masked man is trying to keep this fish from causing problems in town.

Murder carp? What else is nature going to throw at us?

Have you seen the Titan Forge Dragon Empire STLs? They have a mage riding a giant koi which would go nicely

I saw the Titan Forge stuff too late to pledge cheap, didn’t have the printer then either. It’s where I got the idea (well there and Rising Sun, which I didn’t buy) for this goldfish when I saw the .stl.

Speaking of murder goldfish.

Bubbles the Murder Goldfish with hero riding him. I printed a second Goldfish for another personality later.

Need idea help with how to mount this sucker to the base. Only a tiny bit of the tail attaches to the ground. I don’t want to have a water scene , as it is magical and out of the water and flying not flopping around. The white stuff is just poster tack trying to hold it in place while the glue dries.

While I had the WGF samurai stuff out I figure I’d snap a picture of the different dragons and figures for the project.

Typical flying base is what I'd go for maybe glue it to a cavalry base.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. There's a bunch of Dragon Empire stuff on their Patreon for June too (last day today!) and Patreon backers get a large discount in their MyMiniFactory store. I sound like an advert... :/

I'd go for either a flying base, or a strategically placed bush/tree? Alternatively if you can find some frondy fins from something else you may be able to add them on for a bit more support?

Okay, so I have never Patreon'd before. I signed up just for the Dragon Empire Stuff (Thanks A Lot). Where do I download the files? I'm on their page, It says I am in at the $10 level and I have access to the models, but after tooling around I still don't see a "Go here!" or click to download and no email saying here's the stuff.

Any help would be great. That Dragon Alone is worth it to me.

Edit: Nevermind , found it.

Theo, log into Patreon, and click on the Titan Forge name on the left side of the page. That should take you to their page with all their posts.

Then find the Dragon Empire 2 post. Link with password will be there.

Edit: Cool.

Theophony,

My suggestion is drilling from the underside of the base at an angle the will go through the tail and into the body. Use a pin-vice for control and then slide in a brass rod with glue and that will keep the resin from snapping from under the weight or being dropped.

Hope that helps,

CB

Yeah, the dragon is rather nice. I need to start working my way through the patreon backlog and printing/painting some of the stuff I've got :/

If you value your money, don't go exploring Patreon too much as there are loads of really good 3d artists on there creating models. Titan Forge are one of the best ones though, so you're in for a treat

Okay, got most of the files downloaded and then canceled the Patreon for July. Not a huge fan of the Chaos dwarf style and I must remain focused...... ooooo shiny....on whatever project i'm working on .

Then I realized i didn't get their "Welcome Bundle" or the * titan of adventure models from being a Patreon. I've sent them an Email, hopefully I'll get a good response.

Also asked if there was a way to get the other 2 Dragon Empire bundles they had offered. Fingers crossed.

The Hero on Kirin is almost done. I ran out of my other spool and was trying the black again. looks like a lot of stringing happening. Hopefully it turns out alright as this is the spool that I had the major malfunction with early on. If not this spool goes away permanently and I won't buy the brand again. I have 2.5 other spools from 2 other makers available in front of me. hoping it was just my inexperience before.
