i've seen a few folks mount them on cannon carriages etc and was hoping to see what some of you have done for suggestions.
i really like the look of a guard HW on a cannon carriage but i'm not too sure i like wooden cannon wheels.

suggestions?

What about the 'ork wheels' (i.e. the plastic or metal wheels that come with ork big gunz)?

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

If you've not seen them yet, I'll have to point you all over to Col. Gravis' brilliant conversions for his Praetorian IG force.

this is what I did, following his example:

more of them here:

edit: the galloper gun carriage is oop, the sprue with the ork iron wheels as well as the one with the wooden spoked wheels is no longer available as bitz and the sentinel assault gun used in the Gravis Pattern heavy bolters isn't avalable any more.
sigh..

Thanks!

They used to sell the stuff as bitz, and since at least the wheels came on a sprue of their own they shouldn't be too hard to do again..

I'd recomment writing a nice, polite letter to GW, asking for those bitz you'd like to be able to buy again - enough people asking for the same bitz will surely get them higher on their 'to do' lists...

I have been buying the Ork Lobbas as cheaply as I can from e-bay and online retailers. Build the model - the lobba itself and it fits a heavy weapon perfectly. Plus you now (if it was a complete set) have ammo grots for your orks! Or trade bait for a buddy.

You really want wheels?

Because the ork wartrakks back end is perfect for mounting a heavy gun.

Sorry usernamesareanoying, Idon't know where to find them as bits although the ork wartrakk boxed doesn't cost that much, If you know one of those sites were they sell cheap warhammer or warhammer 40k then you can get them at a really good price and you'l even have some bits leftover which you can use or sell.
Like the front of the wartrakk it isn't too orky you could perfectly use it for something imperial.

Don't mind the ork, he didn't want to leave his beloved bike.

I agree with goffnob and that a ork (skorcha, track or whatever it is) would do the trick

yep. I think I'm going to have to pick up some tracks as well to keep my heavy weapons teams in theme with my mechanized play style.

"All of the whining pisses me off... Somewhere some whiny girlyman reinterpreted sportsmanship to reflect the build and not the player. The build has nothing to do with sportsmanship and getting docked as such is ludicrous." -Inigo Montoya
That being said, I'll still give you a 0 if you bring more than 5 eldar skimmers. Don't be that guy.
Also, strippers.
