So I (like some of you, I hope, so that Im not alone) am not real happy with that new chaos codex, but! I still love the Legions. I really think they've got the right idea, heh.
Anyways, I started painting some Word Bearer marines, and what turned from one old marine with a flamer has advanced into a 5 man squad, 3 bolters, 1 flamer, 1 icon, 4 terminators, 1 terminator sorcerer and 2 berzerkers (so far). As much as the codex makes me long for the old one, I would still love to use these painted figures in a game.

So far, for 1000pts. I have this:

Sorcerer (Dark Apostle): Terminator Armor, Warptime. 140pts.

Terminators: x4 w/ Heavy Flamer/Lightning Claw, Combi-Bolter/Chainfist, Combi-Bolter/Powerfist, Combi-Flamer/Power Weapon. 165pts.

Marines: x5 w/Bolters, Flamer, Icon of Chaos Glory. 90pts.

Marines: x10 w/Bolters, Heavy Bolter, Plasmagun, Aspiring Champion w/Powerfist, Icon of Chaos Glory, Rhino. 260pts.

Berzerkers: x8 w/ Personal Icon, Rhino. 245pts.

Predator: w/ Twin Linked Lascannon, Heavy Bolter Sponsons. 135pts.

For the 500pts to go, I had thought to add a Greater Daemon and two squads of 5 Lesser Daemons, that's 230pts., Im not quite sure what to do with the other 270 though, I have 8 Bikers, I dont want to just start adding Lash Princes, Obliterators, and all the other cookie cutter stuff, I want to keep with the style of the army. Though, I did consider adding 10 Plague Marines in a Land Raider, I thought that would be pretty sweet.

Id appreciate some ideas and help on this list.

plagues in raiders?
i would rather throw kharn into the list, put him with the bezerkers and either keep then in the rhino, or throw em in a raider to get them into combat.

plagues can take some shooting, but combat wise its the bezerkers that prevail, so the transport should get them into combat.

maybe another rhino unit aswell?
more troops are allways good, with some mobility they are better.

maybe even a defiler? that would give you some covering fire if needed, and good for either tank or troop hunting.

Are you saying add Kharn and the land raider?
So, add Kharn to the berzerkers, put them in the land raider, and what else for the remaining 115pts?

Something like fast attack? maybe some Bikers?

So far Im looking at adding Kharn to the Berzerker squad and putting them into the Land Raider that Id also add, along with a Vindicator?
That puts me 25 points over....

I'd get rid of warp time. Just my opinion though

Hi I would keep your predator for 1 thing troop hunting with autocannon and heavy bolters or tank/carnifex hunting with all lascannons. also my defiler has never let me down with 4 dreadnaught combat weapons and a battlecannon but thats me and im generally regarded as an idiot and a loser so its up to you

enmitee: If I get rid of warptime there's really no sense in taking the sorcerer at all......is that what you're suggesting? Your post isnt very clear Im afraid. I was considering a defiler, does anyone know if buying a soul grinder is enough to get 4 dreadnought close combat weapons or would I still need to order more?

Anyone else have any suggestions? Come on Chaos Faithful! Dont let me down!

So sorry for that comment, well id recommend booting him for something else really. But from what i learned from armies that use tanks, redundancy is good. another predator would do you good, you just cant count too much on defiler shooting. Leaving your opponent jjust killing your first obvious anti tank, the pred.

Well, the reason I didnt take a Daemon Prince is that I dont have one to use currently, I didnt take a Chaos Lord because of the re-rolls from Warptime, but a Daemon Weapon wouldnt be bad, but it would go from 140pts for the Terminator Sorcerer w/ Warptime to 170pts for a Terminator Chaos Lord w/ Daemon Weapon.

Instead of trying to change out the HQ, else would anyone suggest? I have NO Fast Attack choices, but I also dont have any raptors, I do however, have 8 bikers rigged up as berzerker bikers from the old codex, I could count these as bearing the Icon of Khorne? Im still at a loss.....Defilers seem good, but then dont, changing the HQ I think will just eat up more points than Ive already spent....

Anything other suggestions?

Well, I'd take some more marines to bring that 5-man squad up to 10, and give them a champion with stuff. 5-man squads don't last long if someone actually pays attention to them. To help with vehicles, I'd consider giving the CSM melta weapons. Typically people don't put heavy weapons in Rhino squads, given that the units can take two specials at no additional cost, and it fits their more mobile role. Lastly, the Terminators don't really have a defined role. I know the boxed set is frustrating in its options, but I think the 4-man squad you have now would be better served with the heavy flamer, a chainfist, and 3 combi-plasma or combi-meltas.

To expand, I'd definitely add a second heavy vehicle for saturation, maybe a champion for the Zerkers, and the bikes sound like a fun addition (preferably with dual meltas here as well). You could also drop the Zerker Rhino and take a Land Raider, put the Apostle in there with them, and let the other Termies just drop and do their thing.

As much as summoning daemons is totally Word Bearer background, Ive been stuck on putting 10 Plague Marines w/ x2 Plasmaguns, Champion w/ Powerfist, and an Icon in a Land Raider. The idea is to roll up on whatever, jump out, put 16 rapid fire bolter shots, 4 plasma shots, 3 heavy bolter, and 2 lascannon shots into the target. You think, why not charge? Well, figure with T5, 3+ and 4+ FNP, they should be able to put out that awesome amount of shooting and say "come get it" and certainly hold their own against anything that actually survived right? Id have to cut about 33pts. somewhere, as these 2 units would take me over 1500pts. Any thoughts?

The list above, which I was trying to get feedback on, has Berzerkers, and I know they make a more sensible candidate for a Land Raider, so they can charge as they disembark, but I think this idea has some merit to it too.

Anyone run or have luck with something like this?
