Hello,

I think about starting with epic. Now I have a lot of questions. First of all, are there any good stores in Great Britain where I can order epic-stuff which will send to germany. In uk are the prices a bit of germany, so this would be great.
And how much cost a "standard" imperial guard oder space marine army?
I have the actual rulebook from the internet but don't know the rules by now.

Thanks for your help...

regards...

Rather than Epic go for 'Future war Commander' you can use any figures in any scale (even Epic ones if you want to...)

That's Warmaster based, and while I haven't played it, I far far prefer the Epic rules-set to the BLitkrieg Commander implementation of Warmaster.

You can only get Epic from GW.

For Guard, get plastic infantry and use Forge World for eveything else (although you may want to get a metal lema russ company as the FW ones have no sponsons)

For marines, get yourself on ebay.

You will probably end up paying towards 100 for a full guard army with a Russ Company, Shadowswords, Storm Troopers, Valyries and Vultures.

Marines, can be very cheap as the marine tanks are basically pretty poor. Ebay is overflowiing with marine infantry with rhinos and whirlwinds, and the only other thing you really need are Thunderhawks.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Epic. In fact, it is an incredible game.

Epic rules are currently available for download for free from the main GW site. Epic minis are officially only available from GW direct. However, as noted, eBay is a great source. These can go from the crazy expensive (anything Tyranid) to the incredibly cheap (plastic Orks, Marines, etc which have been around for years, came in the original game sets and so pretty much everyone has hundred of already).

The comment about FW was bang on. This is possibly the only time where FW are actually cheaper than GW minis. Take a look and compare for yourself.

I think that the £100 mark is a little higher than I would guess for a standard 2700/3000 point army. Start by just picking up an infantry company and perhaps a Leman Russ Co. Play a few games with these to get the hang of it. Then you can expand to around 2000 points, but avoid space vessels, aircraft and war engines at this stage. This should make your games flow easier and allows you to learn the standard rules.

Once you have done this, you will probably be a fanatic about the game, and be looking at 3000 point armies for pretty much every race you can!
