I recently posted a Vulkan based Salamander army and am very pleased with it. I came up with this list more for fun than anything.

Is this even viable, fun and would folks even play against me? It just seemed like a neat idea. I guess it's a Dreadzilla list...if there is such a thing hehe.

I made a few changes and made the whole army Drop Pod and added 3 x Heavy Flamers to three of the Ironclads.

Thanks!

5 Drop Pods on the first turn adds in alot of variety indeedy especially as you could drop the 30 tacky marines and support them with 2 Iron Clads. Whilst you have a Drop Pod army, you're lacking in massive ranged firepower. Your first turn is gonna be solid but then the enemy, playing against a Drop Pod army will have plonked everything on one side of the board to counter your half an army with their full army.

Auretious Taak.

P.S. If you could squeeze Vulkan in there all those melta's and flamers would be twin-linked and on the Ironclads that's just nasty with 2 twin-linked heavy flamers each turn. Bye bye Ork swarms.

P.P.S. People will play you. You've made it a fun list, it is far from unkillable but will present a hard list to battle against for many armies.

yeh aside from heavy anti vehicle armies, its going to be a pain to take down that many ironclads

Vulkan could be fitted in there by dropping a tactial squad down to a scout squad w/ cloaks (working with the MotF to grant 2+ cover saves in one section of terrain) & changing 2-3 of the ironclads to standard dreds.

Im gonna field a list like this but @ 1500 where 4 ironclads (+2 normal dreds) become that much harder to take down.

Edit: As it stands, nice mix of troops. Vulkan isnt needed. He'd just make your dreds nastier, possibly over-kill and make it harder to score. Troops are prefered.

I've used this list, albiet with chain fists and 2 missile lanuchers instead of the Plasma Cannon. So far, I've had a lot of luck (and fun) with them. Just realize that your mobility after you hit the ground is kinda limited.

The only problem that I've had with this list was with a Tau Hammerhead that kept out of my Multi-melta range and started popping dreads with the his overcompensation cannon.

I played against a list very similar to this one not too long ago. Scouts with cloaks and sniper rifles would be a good addition as they could potentially pin any anti-tank squads - or if you could somehow squeeze Telion in there, take the heavies out of squads. Plus that 2+ cover save makes them a serious pain to get rid of - until they get assaulted anyways.

It's a solid list though, especially with everything podded.

Orks will have a seriously hard time dealing with all of those AV 13 walkers. *he said from experience*

Even with 2,000 Points you couldn't wedge Vulkan in there... but the Scouts would make an excellent addition at 2k.
