Hello! I want to build a well balanced SM tournament army that can deal with the "top tier" lists out there. Criticism appreciated.

HQ

Librarian w/ 5+ invulnerable save spell, re-roll enemy invulnerable save spell (cheap HQ to resist enemy psychic powers.)

Troops

10 marines w/ melta, Lascanon, P. Fist (generic troops, slant towards anti-vehicle/heavy infantry/MC)

10 marines w/ melta, Lascanon, P. Fist (generic troops, slant towards anti-vehicle/heavy infantry/MC)

Razorback w/ TL HB (adds a little anti-light infantry, and depending on opponents/mission used to deliver combat squad flamers and melta guns where they are most neede)

10 marines w/ flamer, heavy bolter, power weapon (generic troops, slant towards anti-light infantry)

10 Scouts w/ P. Fist (outflanking HTH Troops)

Fast Attack

3 Attack Bikes w/ MM (dedicated anti-vehicle/MC)

Heavy Support

Predator w/ AC turret, HB sponsons (dedicated anti-light infantry)

Whirlwind (keep opponents honest with clumping)

1700pts

Comments welcome!

Oh god. 40 marines.

Make a note to give all those scouts combat blades, if you really want proper flanking HTH troops? I persoanlly think thier better used infiltrating with snipers.

Looks scary.

I thought most tourneys were 1750... Oh well.

I would fiddle with the points, and cut those scouts down to 5 and put them on a Land Speeder Storm with a Heavy Flamer. It allows you to make a last turn objective grab. Turbo boost it to the objective, and the guys hop out and run towards it.

Edited to add the TL HB razorbacks (forgot to add them in the first time.)

To Quixote:

The Storm is an interesting option. I will playtest to see how useful the 10 scouts are, and if they don't do anything as footslogging Outflankers, I will consider using the Storm instead. Thanks for the input!

Why put a flamer and a H bolter in a tac squad?

In case you did not know you must have a squad in each razorback as they are dedicated transports. (I would give one of them TL Lascannon personally) Other than that the list is pretty good. It would beat Tau (but then again what doesn't?)

I don't think it is possible to win with that many troops. You should take the bare minimum of tactical marines as possible, and should never play scouts under any circumstance. Welcome to the new 40k, tactical marines lose firefights with a lot of other infantry now.

Well, 40 Tactical Marines and 10 Scouts form the core.
Three scoring units (2x10 Tacticals and 10 Scouts) should suffice.
I'd include some hard hitting units like Termies or Sternguard Veterans able to deal with tougher creatures (MCs or Nobz).
