I have been successfully running this list vs csm, sm, orks, and necrons, but I don't know what to expect with my upcoming game vs daemons. Should I dig in far to the rear and shoot like hell or play more agressively? Knowing nothing about them, I would have a propensity to castle up and shoot.

I have 2 wagons and 5 trukks, mobs of sluggas, stormboys, 6 kanz, a couple of dredds, deff koptas... I just don't know how to approach them.

Well depending on the demons, you should be in decent shape. Biggest issue is probably FnP hoards of plaguebearers... S10, power weapons or AP2 or better to get rid of them .... so you don't really have a lot of choices here. Best suggestion is kill all the rest first and just coun't on orkie volume of attacks against nurgle.

Covering the board is a good thing early to reduce where he can deep strike in but at some point you do have to castle up just a bit. Just find a good position to plant the lootas and fire away.

His mass killing power will probably be 1 to 3 soulgrinders so figure out how you are going to shoot them down. Armor 13 and immune to stun/shaken makes them pretty hard. I would almost recommend the one unit of tankbustas say 6+ to just dedicate fire on the soulgrinders.

Expect good assaults and really low invuln saves. Nurgle can be annoying but Plaguebearers have 1 crappy attack each and won't kill you. There may be several MCs to watch out for, but if there are it drastically shrinks the size/number of regular units because they're so damn costy. Khorne units might be able to make you run away, that's the only thing I'd say to watch out for. If you can shoot anything, do so.

Large PB squads will chew up mobs of 30 boys quickly. 1 attack isnt many but your going to lose more units than you kill against them.

Soften them up with shooting to atleast 10 or less before rushing in or they will bog you down and inevitably kill off your unit.

I played a demons list in a recent tourney:

He had
Fateweaver
Bloodthirster
nurglings
3x plague bearers
bloodletters
bloodcrushers

I had:
Battlewagon big mek with KFF and 19 boys, nob pk
2 x 11 boys, nob pk in trukk
10 boys, nob pk warboss with all the goods in a trukk
12 lootas
10 grots
15 stormboyz

I lost most of my troops in the battle and in the end was using trukks to contest objectives I didn't hold.

Bloodthirster took my warboss and bent him over his knee. One turn. Fortunatly the lootas had relieved the thirster of some wounds fist and a nob finished him off after that.

Hit plague squads with as many PK's at once as you can. Plague beares are not that scary, but they will hold you up until the more nasty thigns get there if you do not kill them quickly, and your regular attacks will struggle to get past T5, 5+, 4+ (and rerolls if fateweaver is on the field and within 6" as he was in my case). The good news is you'll hit on 3's since their WS is lower than yours.

Positioning the lootas where they would not get charged and still have a good line of fire was difficult when both armies wanted to get into HTH as soon as possable. My lootas spent 3 turns doing nothing but repositioning when no targets were available.

Don't let their special deployment or anything you were unaware of get you down. Do the ork thing like you do with every other army and you will get them. Just be cautious of your numbers and make sure you kill things dead.

Demons are squishy against shooting(except nurgle, who can take over 100 shots from blade storming dire avenger squads and still have models left in a 15 man squad .... it's true. real story). Bloodletters and deamonettes espescaily. Shoots will work wonders against them.

A few of the scary builds I have seen:

If they have epedemius and all nurgle, you MUST kill epedimius as quickly as possable. When plague bearers wound on 2+ with power weapons the game is basically over. Concentrate PK's on one or two squads at a time and cut a path to him. Bikers with a warboss are good for this as are nob bikers.

Bloodcrusher/fateweaver combo is nasty. Concentrate fire on fateweaver. If he fails even one 3+ rerollable invul save he has to take a ld test or leave the battle. Once he is gone concentrate fire and PKs on blood crushers. Dont engage the blood crushers near fateweaver. Make them charge you where they will move out of fateweavers 6" reach if you can. uless they are playing fatewaeaver very aggressivly you should be able to accomplish this. When they cant re roll their saves they are tough but beatable. When they re roll their saves you need a miracle to beat them.

Many players take a little while to optimize their lists. If they are running a little of everything you should do pretty well. If you see the combos above do your best but be prepared to learn what you can from a good whuppin. With those combos it often comes down to placement and luck.

Good luck!

Meph
