Nice second plague marine.

Your level of painting is real nice, it makes me wonder why you didn't drill the gun barrel on that guy, I feel it kind of brings the general result down.

What do you think?

I'm just lazy. That's the only reason they're not drilled. Hey, at least I put a blob of black paint there though.

Always happy to open people up to other brands, Joerugby.

Third and final Inceptor, the Sergeant is now done. Glad to have them finished.

Now I have to decide what to work on next. Human infantry, Pox Walkers, Plague Marines, or more Reivers?

I'd say I had a pretty productive week of painting.

Painted up a pair of Pox Walkers.

And, I finished my team of Red Hats.

Back when I painted the first one (the SMG one), I couldn't decide how I should paint him. Then I watched Colony on Netflix and it totally clicked. Now I need to figure out what game I could actually use them in.

Knife guy's gun wound up looking a bit like a Mac-10 once I glued it to that hand. I like the idea of him having a micro SMG.

Cyborg medic.

Dual wielding las-pistols and NVGs. The guns are from Mantic's GCPS.

Dual grip and kneeling.

And this baby arrived this afternoon. Can't wait to build 'em.

Panzer World Galient has some nostalgic value for me. I didn't see the show until I was an adult, but when I was a kid, I had some models and a toy of one of the centaur mechs. When I was a kid, I was way into knights, so the idea of mecha knights just totally blew my mind back then. I'm so happy that there's new model kits. Too bad Bandai probably won't make kits of the robots I used to have.

Check out that lovely box art though. not as awesome as the original Takara model box artwork, but still very nice.

I couldn't stand not having a "proper" sized team of Reivers, so I bought another 3-man set. Did some arm swaps and borrowed a bare head from the multipose box for a bit of variety. Voila, three new bog standard Reivers!

This now gives me what should be a 90 point squad of standard Reivers.

What fun! Next, I'm going to slowly work on some Plague Marines and some cyborgs.

Like the Reiver squad. For some reason getting a Universal Soldier vibe.

Like the mech, too. Not familiar with the series, but it sounds cool.

I've been neglecting my painting duties these last few days. I've been getting home later than usual and I got my Battle Systems sci-fi scenery over the weekend, so I've been playing with that.

I only just started messing with it on Sunday, but I've got a couple of small buildings set up. Some of the new stuff is a bit confusing to assemble without any instructions. They've also cut down on the variety of plastic connectors. The two roof connector types that the apocalypse scenery had don't seem to be present anymore. At least, not in the colony outpost set. Without them, the roofs seem a lot more finicky. Still, there's some pretty cool new stuff, too. Here's a few photos I took after assembling my claustrophobic little buildings.

Hopefully I'll get back to my painting tomorrow.

Is that from their KS? It seems that the shop is out of stock in almost everything.

Yeah, it's from the most recent Kickstarter. I'd noticed that a lot of their stuff was out of stock most of the time when the Urban stuff went to retail. I'm pretty sure their original sci-fi terrain is out of production, but the urban stuff should still be going. Try shooting them an email.

Actual painting has been done! Finished three of five Armored Chasseurs from Warzone.

That last guy is almost impossible to effectively photograph because of his pose.

I've also completed another Plague Marine for my Weeping Legion warband. This guy is from the 3-figure easy build set.

A shame those chasseurs don't have helmets. Armor looks good on them.

Do your plague marines match up to your dark mariners? I've been curious about that.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

When I remember the first WZ Resurrection Ks prototypes and see yours I feel happy how far the games has come miniature-wise and how lousy some of the poses still are. Really nice paint jobs.

I do wish they had helmets, too. I suppose I could've painted the guy with the full facemask like he's wearing a helmet, but his ears are sculpted on. The Plague Marines don't quite match up with my Dark Mariners because the base colors are actually a fair bit different. The Dark Mariners use bone white as their base while the Weeping Legion use a leathery tan that comes close to a flesh tone over a grayish green as their base. For some reason they look similar in the photos, but the Dark Mariners have an overall brighter colors scheme.

Yeah, these new ones do look a lot more like the Armored Chasseur artwork from the Kickstarter. They're a lot bulkier, too. I'm hoping the line isn't dead yet. Hopefully the Siege of the Citadel will reinvigorate them. At the very least, it will be giving me plenty of new Warzone figures to paint.

BobtheInquisitor wrote:You don't like the second Chasseur, who just got dumped by his girlfriend, with her cheatin' eyes?

Beautiful paint jobs, Barzam.

Thanks Bob. Weirdly enough, just about all of these Armored Chasseurs have their faces exposed. It's like, the one fleshy bit they have left with the most important organ, yet it's the least protected part of them. At leas the Mirrormen wear full helmets.

While I've been working on my Cybertronic dudes, I've been painting a few 15mm figures on the side. I finished several of them tonight.

First, a few Maligs from Ion Age.

This next one was a monthly freebie. He's stealing a Skrak egg so the Shia Khan legions can domesticate them. Those would be the Chocobo looking birds with goblin riders I did a little while back.

They're supposed to have a very high mortality rate. The Skraks tend to eat them when they sneak into their nests.

I got another Legionnaire done, too.

I'm not sure what it is about those early Maligs Ion Age did, but I really like them. The later sets they did just aren't quite as cool.

The other thing I finished tonight was a Battle Raven mech from Micropanzer.

This is the Mk.I type, which is armed with a minigun, arm mounted rocket pod, and shoulder mounted micro missile launcher. I know it looks pretty yellow in the photo, but it's actually a bit more of a desert yellow/tan-ish color. I really like this thing and I wish I'd bought more of them. Unfortunately, Micropanzer just announced today that they were looking to sell off all of their ranges, which means these.

The Battle Raven is actually a pretty hefty little model. Solid metal (which made things "fun" during assembly) and it's mounted on a 40mm base. Here's how it compares to Ion Age's Afara Strider and a not-Titanfall pilot (also put out by Micropanzer).

My photo may not show it very well, but yes, that pilot is absolutely based on the pilots from Titanfall. Micropanzer also produces some Not-Titans for them. I have one that I'll work on, eventually.

I haven't painted any Infinity minis in a long while, so it felt good to paint some up again.

Here's the v.2 sculpt of the Haqqislam Ragik hacker. I love these Ragik figures. I've actually got a small squad of Ragiks. Their new sculpts are especially cool.

I also painted a Corregidor Bandit.

The mask doesn't look very good in this pic, I know. The figure reminds me a lot of Taokakka from Blazblue, so I was attempting to paint this figure's mask to look similar. It looks cruddy in this pic, but at tabletop level it looks fine. Her face is so tiny, i couldn't really add any details anyway.

Last, I finally got around to painting one of my Last Saga minis.

I'm not especially pleased with how the face turned out on her. My plan though is to just use her as a generic medic proxy for my Haqqislam forces.

My AD Police got a little expansion to their force tonight. I painted up Clearhorizon Miniatures' Covert Ops Cyber K9 Handler. I think he goes pretty well with my GZG AD Police figures.

Sure, he appears to be using Boomer dogs, but I'm okay with that.

I spent most of my night working on a Plague Marine Champion, but I did manage to get some more 15mm work in.

This guy is a Yandrassi Commander.

He's totally not an Elite. No sir. He certainly isn't the Arbiter, either. Totally not. I know I could just buy actual Elites from Spartan, but these guys actually came out before that Halo game did. Plus, they're still in production! These guys, the Yandrassi are made by Loud Ninja Games and distributed by Alternative Armies. Same guys that do Ion Age. Loud Ninja made other Not-Covenant, too. There's also Not-Grunts and Not-Brutes. They also make jetbikes for them that look vaguely like the STAPs from Star Wars and a series of mecha. I've actually got a full squad of Yandrassi infantry and a mech for them, but I just haven't ever gotten around to painting them. I wanted to do them in metallic purple armor, but I could never quite figure out how best to do that.

Don't you hate it when you put a lot of work into a mini only to realize that you're completely unhappy with your results? I had that happen tonight. I was working on a Last Saga mini and it just wasn't working for me. Had to scrap the whole thing and toss it in the Simple Green. Bah. I wasn't really in the mood to paint up that Plague Marine Champion, either. So, instead I worked on some more 15mm figures.

Now these guys, I received them as a freebie bonus in my last order to Micropanzer. Two full squads. one with just the basic guys, like the one on the left and one with the skirted guys on the right. It turns out that they're some unproduced faction Micropanzer had made. Pretty cool for freebies.

Just finished up tonight, the Baroness Julanne of Canlaster. She's the final freebie figure Ion Age put out and I believe she used to be on the cover of the rulebook, until they resized and updated it. My colors are a bit darker than they should be for Canlaster, but I'm happy enough with it. She looks decent enough on the table.

The Warzone minis look cool and I like those mechs. I also applaud your work with the 15mm stuff. I have tried smaller scales and can't do it. I respect anyone that can and that does it so well.

Made in us
Thermo-Optical Tuareg

California

Well, I can't speak for scales smaller than 15mm, but I've found that it isn't quite as difficult a scale to work with as I thought it would be. I was initially really worried that because the figures are so small, I wouldn't be able to properly paint them. I found though that you can get a surprisingly good tabletop quality paintjob on them very easily by just slopping on some base colors and a thick wash. Give them another shot. Honestly, the most difficult part in working with 15mm I find is doing their bases. It can be such a mess.

Anyway, no 15mm today. This time, it's some good 'ole 28mm figures. These are a trio of Neanderthals from Warlord's Savage Core line. Strangely enough, I can't really seem to find the line listed on Warlord's site anymore.

These guys have been plaguing my table for a while. Despite their very simple paint scheme, they were kind of a paint to paint. Their furs have a lot of uneven surfaces with a lot of random deep cuts and gouges all over them. So, getting paint in all of the cracks and crevices was very difficult. I'm glad they're finally done though. now I can move on to other stuff.

As you can see, I'm also trying out a different backdrop for my photos. I'm using some of the parts from the recent Battle Systems Kickstarter. Specifically from the Frontier terrain set. I think it works pretty good, though not so much with fantasy figures.

I like the Battle Systems terrain. The only issue I've had is that those crates in the shot weren't keyed very well, so they had some fit issues. The apocalypse terrain also had some very helpful clips that helped keep the roofs in place. For some reason, those clips aren't present in this new set. I would have liked to have had them since they helped with the buildings' stability. I'd have liked some instructions for some of the items as well. Once you know how the parts work and interact though, the stuff is pretty easy to work with.

I tried building some beds and they did NOT want to fit together.

Some of the lockers I built weren't cut very well either. Wasn't sure if that was indicative of all the stuff or it was just a misaligned sheet I was dealing with.
