I play as the IG and want to know if any of you seasoned Imperial Commanders have any good tips on killing space marine terminators. All posts are appreciated thx.

Step 1:Kill their transport

Step 2:Fire as many shots into them as possible! Heavy Bolters/Autocannons/Multilasers.

Step 3: PROFIT!

For me it's all about putting heavy weapon's fire into them. With the new 'everyone gets a cover save' it's great for swarms (like yours and my bugs), but that doesn't help terminators. They'll be using their 2+ still. If I can hit on 4s and wound on 2's or 3's with autocannons or multilasers or even heavy bolters I find they go down. NO one can make all 10 saves without a few ones slipping in there.

Just remember that terminators are a huge target and you might be baited with them to take your focus off of bike scouts or tac squads in rhinos that quietly catch an objective. Basically, don't focus too much on them and if you have to sacrifice a unit to keep them tied up for a turn or two, do it! If you have all the vox gear for tests and or commissars you might be able to hold them off. They're death to guard armour no matter what they're equipped with. But being slow I find they can be bogged down quickly after being shot many, many times with moderately powerful weaponry.

If you feel good about your plasma weaponry, stormtroopers are great with them, but I would never go that route. Plasma just doesn't work for me.

volume of fire. Seriously, they'll fail 1 in 6 saves, so you need 5 of those, so thats 30 wounds, you'll need 90 shots hitting to get that many wounds, so about 180 lasgun shots and you're golden. so about 3 platoons should do it, and thats without aything special to help out

Demolisher cannons work wonders!

If they are the annoying assault variety, then you just pour on the wounds and they'll fail eventually. Or just let them munch on a few squads of guardsmen and call it a day.

Yep, theres nothing wrong with the tradional "AP2 Death Tank"

Although just plastering them with fire isn't a terrible option either, tends to be quite slow at killing them though. The option the pros use is sneak attack Deep Striking veteran squads with 3 plasmaguns and a plasmapistol are pretty good for this too, cheap as chips and if they get the shot off will make the termies cry... well, they would cry if their faces wheren't burnt off with white hot plasma that is!

Yeah, if its not a kill points mission simply distract them away from objectives. If they have a lot of lightning claws you can also use transports moving at speed for this too.

AP 1&2 shots!

I'm not an Imperial commander, but I played "Deathwing" DA army yesterday (all termies) and I was pumping 22 ap 1&2 shots into him per turn. Wiped him in a killpoint mission 6-1.

Well, if you rolled like I did last weekend, I had 3 wounds to roll from bolter fire and rolled 3 1's killing 3 termies. *sigh*

Gangbang seriously charge them in H to H the best thing in the world to use against marines taht are Term heavy army are Rough Riders. Dirt Cheap ; they need 4s to hit and 2+ to wound.

They will also reliably get the charge with being able to fleet ; and then assault.

400 points of assault terms wtih Lighting Claws will die to 200 points of rough riders.

Thunder Hammers are a bit more difficult as they have a 3+ save; so be sure to shoot the crap out of them first.

Make sure that you at least screen your rough riders versus shooting.

Ugh Rough Riders are disgusting and no one plays them :(

If the Terminators are mounted in a Land Raider, you could try sacrificing a fast vehicle like a Hellhound to block its way to buy a turn. Otherwise shoot them with everything you got. Tank shocks won't hurt either, as they have a 1/6 chance of failing a morale check.

Well plasma weapons work wonders as do las cannons. However don't forget about your las guns. Every 36 shots kills a terminator (on average). So just keep picking away at them, they will fall eventually. However, one thing to consider is if you need to kill them. In most armies, they are not troops and thus can't hold objectives (although they can contest) so it may be more benifical for you to ignore them in favor of killing off the enemy troops.

In my experience rough riders work best . Just opening up on them works to, but you haveto consider the cost of dedicating that much fire on a single unit.

As a deathwing player, I hate fighting against IG. IG are an attrition army and terminators die to attrition. While the advice about HB/ML/etc is all fine and dandy, the humble lasgun is the terminators most feared weapon they face.

I lose more termies by rolling 1's to save against flashlights than I am comfortable admitting.

Follow Nurgelboy77's advice. Their transport will probably be a Land Raider though...ouch

77 points of rough riders = 3 dead terminators provided they do not have the shield of 3+ invulnerable. This is a trade I would make every day of the week.

Min sized vet squad with max plasma little less that 100 points = 3 dead terminators provided they are no in cover and the vets get to double tap.

Storm Shield termies.... volume of fire.... But really how many squads do they have to kill before they make their points back?

The dreaded veteran dropsquads with 4 plasma works wonder for example.

If its TH-SS killing the transport and just staying away thats the trick. (Unless they come infiltrating with shrike, then your dead anyway)

I have never really had any problems with terminators in any of my games, despite their 2+ armor their invulnerable save is pitiful. Never use bolters or lasguns on them as they'll just save the lot (unless you have a huge weight in numbers) on average one with die from every 6 armor saves they're forced to take (and if you cound 2/3s of your shots are going to hit, 1/2 of those 2/3s or 1/3 of those 2/3s are going to wound), so it's usually a waste of shots for me. Personally I like to completely dedicate all AP 1 and AP 2 weapons to them until they're eliminated. It's worked in every game I play but I play chaos

Shoota Boyz with their awesome amount of fire.
Lootas for their even better awesome amount of fire.
Boyz in CC for their awesome amount of attacks.

Notice a pattern here?

I used an earthshaker to Ordinance two squads of chaos terminators in a game ones. Basilisk is so worth it. Keep it out of range of the enemy and in sight of its targets!!

The same way you kill anything with an invulnerable save - make them fail saves.

Or hope for deep strike mishaps.

they can't sweeping advance, so a charge with a bunch of cheap expendable guys might not be such a bad idea? I haven't tried it, but it seems like a way to exploit one of their weaknesses.

With the weapons you have here, I don't know. I just don't know.
