Yep i had it laying around fro years so i decided to paint it!

Ive ordered the big landing pad from FW so I can have my Valkerie on it when it come out. I thought a crashed lander near the pad would look cool. In a kind of "coming into a hot LZ and getting shot down" way

It's just a Realm of Battle Board, not a Sultan.

Why not, people can put out close to that for high end, custom pool tables, and the market for ultra high end gaming rigs is reasonably strong. While it's nothing I'd buy, If you have the money ....

I want one, but I love it for the fact that books, models, and gear can be stored inside the table and it can double as an excellent table for RPGs in addition to games with models.

Coolest part is the fact that you can put out maps between two clear sheets of plastic, so that it keeps them flat and keeps them safe. That's a really good idea for BTech.

I'll never get used to gamers flinching over $290. Ever bought a video game console or a computer before?

I just bought one and I'm loving it. Great idea for a p-log. Subscribing now. Looking forward to updates. And any pitfalls you fall into and then warn me about.

My friend crawled under the Sultan at GenCon to examine the assembly. He wasn't
impressed. It was competent, but not 10k competent (I think part of their marketing
was that the table was excellent quality and assembled all fancy).

You could probably hire someone to assemble a finished table without the ridiculous
well in it for less.

I agree with malfred. The table looks impressive, but the construction of the table is not all that.

I am sure you could commission a carpenter to build a Sultan for less than 3k.

Back on topic, the scenery looks fab cant wait to see the board. I am assuming you will be doing a city terrain for a few pieces of the board?

No i think it will be a grass and rock look as want to use it for 40K, Warhammer and LOTR. I would love to have a few different boards in different styles, but i fear my wife may kill me

I hope to have it by the weekend

My idea for the perfect game table (for the limited space I'd have) is a standard 5x9 fold-in-half ping pong table, with 8 realm of battle squares so it's like a 4x4 on each half that touch in the middle, and then you have a 6" shelf all around to leave your dice or rest a soda or whatever. Nice blog though I'll be watching

Funny you should say that, but my mate who owns my FLGS as a ROB as well and we are going to link them together in my photographic studio (which is large) and play Apocalypse. Even better is my studio is closed to the public on Sundays and Mondays so we can let the game run over two days!!

I just got a text to say it might come in tomorrow

I completely agree.

There is a lucky local who has purchased one of those, and I got a chance to play around on it.

Impressions are that it is a very nice table, very cool as can already be surmised.

But I too took a bit more in depth look at the construction of it, under the hood so to speak. Like malfred's friend, I was no overly impressed. I didn't tell this guy that though because he is very pleased with his table and I don't want to rain on that parade by saying that it wasn't a $10k job.
For $10K I can have a local woodsmith build a much nicer table to custom specs, and the entire table would so solid that you would not be able to find fault with it. In short, knock your socks off impressed.

Back to the topic:
Very nice terrain so far grandmaster. I cant wait to see how you use the battle board for 40K stuff.

To the poster of those amazing pics:

Your scenery is a cut above. the grass and weathering affects on the lander are by far the best i have seen for that peice of terrain, and your photography is some of the best on this sight. Please keep up the good work, and think about putting out a how to article for those of us who are not as gifted as you obviously are.

I'd say a little of column A & a litle of column B. Both would be welcome here.

If it's stupid & it works, it's not stupid.
