Hello, to all

I'm preparing myself like alot of IG players for the new codex.
I always wanted to use roughriders but just couldn't find the theme to create squads.

I recently looked Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

Scene's with the Rebels on the planet Hoth.

The idea came for using cold one's to replace Luke and hans Solo's mount.
I'm going to Greenstuff my troopers with furr coats and hoods.

For my colors scheme you can check the poll on
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/232198.page

The first problem came to put Guardsmen on cold ones
They didn't fit at all so i'm going to sculpen them with greenstuff
Here are some pic's to start

Great idea to put them on cold ones. Rough riders have so much modelling opurtunities.

I like it how you kept the hip section + boots of a model. It's something I'll do my best to remember when i start work on a similar job.

LOL, I'm doing exodite eldar using the cold ones...

The leg bits you're putting together for them are ingenious.

You might want to look at the Lizardmen Saurus Cavalry as well. Their bodies are more round, but they look a lot like the Tauntaun from TESB. Also, you get more models in the box - 8 as opposed to 5.

If you're not going to be using the leftover DE bits, let me know. I'll be happy to buy them off you.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Really nice paint job on him. One tiny thing that bugs me the backpack is upside down which makes it look like that shovel is about to fall off.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

I like it. The packs of gear on the back is a good idea, it will keep them from looking like cadians thrown on a dark elf steed.

Awesome - As soon as I opened the thread and saw the ESB poster, I knew this was something cool!

I love your ideas - one thing that might set yours way apart from other such conversions would be to but some bionics on it. . . like maybe a computer box on the neck with a cable going into the brain stem/cerebellum area. . . or a scope over one eye. . .

I don't know if I could even improve on your idea,

can't wait to see it finished!

*also, a rounded base would make it look even more 40k*

seriousily good paint job! I second the idea with the bionics, it would tie the model into the 40k universe better, maybe something boxy at the back of the head ("mind-link" to the rider, allowing him to ride without using his hands). Subscribed.

The sculpting looks good, allthough I think that the leg should be bent a bit at the knee so that it looks more like a natural riding position.

Its actually dependant upon how your trained, Gaouchoes ride like they are sitting in an arm chair, but some military styles your very straight legged, and in the use of the lance you should rise out of the saddle just before contact putting weight forwards to absorb the impact.

I've done similar legs bent, but on these things I like the straighter leg, in particular I like the dropped heal, nice.

Most ridding boots do however have heels incidentally, just a point :-) Helps with stirrups!

My comments are my own, and mine own alone. If you have any complaints, please report to Mr Spanky who will take them down for you.....

My english vocabulary isn't good enough to understand.

So i looked up the words and yes.
The stirrups will be added later stage, don't know how i'll connect them to the mount yet.

started on painting skin & scales on all 5

I would like to point out that those are natural riding positions for Horses. There aren't many reference pics for riding Giant Lizards...

Do what I did, the stirrup only really needs to disappear behind the knee to appear as part of the saddle! Thin strap is all your needing!

Check out my Gallary, I think there are some pictures of the ones I've been working on!
