Ok I am playing dwarves and been outta play for over a year due to deployments. Can you please let me know if you think this is competitive and if not what I can do to make it such, thank you.

i´d drop the bolt throwers and put in a unit which is decent in combat at the least.

i doubt you will be able to shoot down everything the opponent throws at you before they get to combat which means you presently only have one unit (warriors) who will hold their own. the quarrelers may be able to as well but a third unit will give you a good solid line in front of your warmachines (or give you units to flank them back with).

aim to remove rank bonus´ with your fire against hoards so your combat units will win.

against others make sure flankers are shot down and the major point sinks are heavily targeted (e.g. giants with cannons, units over 300/400 [including characters] wiped out before they get close or nulified)

Would a 10man miner squad w/ full command and blasting charges be a good replacement for the bolt throwers?

i think a unit along the lines of 15/20 dwarfs. have a look in your rulebook for best value etc but ironbreakers, hammerers, longbeards are all good. another option could be a unit of warriors. i think they can have crossbows and heavy armour, shield, greatweapon. but you may not get many shots off with the crossbows

if you need extra points to make the combat unit maybe drop a unit of thunderers.

on that note drop the standards on the thunderers. it just gives the opponent victory points. the veteran in the unit probably isn´t worth the points either. leave the muso but only if you have the points spare.

looking at your character selection runic armor probably isn´t worth it on the engineers. i´m not sure what all the runes do with the dwarfs but engineers are not meant for combat so having lots of armor isn´t worth it most of the .

also when you put your army list in put the units in this format

reason being the champion is like an upgrade rather than an extra model in the unit

Dear lord no.

The bolt throwers are about the best artillery in the list because they never misfire (take the 2+ to hit rune on one of them to snipe lone characters)

but with all the engineers the rest are very unlikely to misfire. i think you can snipe lone characters just as easy with a cannon if not easier .

two bolt throwers(one Str7) and the goblin hewer (if allowed) plus a dwarf warrior unit, an iron breaker unit and a hammer unit plus fill the rest with thunderers and quarellers makes for a good solid force. One defensive lord, a fighty hero, and a runesmith for characters. Thats the kind of list I roll with usually. I know its not specific advice but its been a while since I broke out the stunties.
