Subject: New Iron Warriors 2,000 point list
|
 |
Tower of Power
|
I've changed my Iron Warrior list a little to get more anti tank in and loose some troops.
I've lost the following:
10 x Chaos Marines w/ rhino - 2 x plasmaguns
1 x Predator w/ lascannon turret & lascannon sponsons
1 x Terminator
My list is looking more like this now:
HQ
1 x Chaos Lord - terminator armour & daemon weapon
1 x Daemon Prince - warptime & lash of submission
Elite
4 x Terminators w/ Land Raider - 4 x single lightning claws, 1 x chain fist, 1 x heavy flamer, 4 x combi meltas
3 x Terminators w/ Land Raider - 1 x chain fist,3 single lightning claws, 3 x combi meltas & 1 x heavy flamer
Troops
10 x Chaos Marines w/ rhino - 2 x meltaguns + chaos icon
10 x Chaos Marines w/ rhino - 2 x meltaguns + chaos icon
10 x Chaos Marines w/ rhino - 2 x meltaguns + chaos icon
Heavy Support
1 x Defiler - ddccw & heavy flamer
1 x Defiler - ddccw & heavy flamer
Plan is to lay down siege with the defilers, they will move in slowly and get into combat with troops only or anything which hasn't got a power fist.
the 5 terminators will be riding in their land raider, the d.p has wings so can follow it from behind and be hidden from line of sight. The termies have more close combat weapons in this unit as the lord has the daemon weapon, the termies will bail out the land raider and the prince will come out of cover and assault also. The land raiders can provide anti tank support best they can.
The lord and other termies will be another hard hitting assault unit and most likely be targetting enemy HQ.
Chaos marines will go after enemy infantry, the meltas can be used to instant death anything but also for any armour which gets close.

That list looks awesome, and I'm sure you will tear up the opposition with it. However (I don't have my codex handy, so I may be wrong) but I don't think you can take a Land Raider as a non-heavy support dedicated transport as Chaos.

You can take as dedicated transport for terminators - checked last night as I was basing it off my marine list and indeed you can.

Nice list. Seems fluffy(though of all lists iron warriors would not be faulted for running multiple oblits ) and still cometitive.
I would get a fist in one or two of the csm squads. PW's are not worth the cost and a few fists are anti dred/wraithlord insurance.
Normally I would caution against defilers, but with yoru theme and the fact that you have two plus a rhino wall to advance behind, I think they should do ok for you, with the standard note that oblits are simply better in most cases point for point. I think this list would be fun to play/play against.

Well I've looked and I cannot get one fist in there without dropping a champion, so I will be down a power weapon all together then. Would be nice. Though I think power weapons are good against basic troops.
Others have said Oblits, but I'd really only use lascannons on them, which are on the land raiders. And I want to shell the hell out of something with the defilers! lol.

I particularly like the target saturation in this list. If it's one thing they're shooting at, the others are safe and so on.

Mmmmmm... Landraiders . I like all of the shooty firepower this list can bring along with the competitiveness w/out being really cheesy. Good list.

Hello Guardsmen, look at your Leman, now back to mine, now back to your Leman, now back to mine. Sadly, your Leman isn't mine, but if they stopped using standard engines and switched to Lucifer Pattern, they could move like they're mine. Look down, back up. Where are you? Your in a battlefield with the Rhino your Leman could move like. Whats in your hand, back at me, I have it, it's the fire control for the Twin-linked Assault Cannons aimed at you. Look again, it's a Deep-Striked Land-Raider. Anything is possible when your Tanks move like Blood Angels, and not like Guardsmen. I'm on a Baneblade. |

I'd take a possessed Vindicator or two. Dropping a S10 AP2 turtle pie plate can win the day against hordes.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Any horde you can kill with a Demolisher round you can drop with a Battlecannon.
This list will give lash a run for it's money. I'd drop something for fists if I were you, maybe even the extra termy squad and just take the Landraider. You could then lavish your troop choices and give the Rhino's Combi-Melts (never a bad idea IMHO). Granted, with that much firepower, you may not even need the fists. If you don't want to drop anything, I'd just drop the champs all together and tune up the Flamers to Meltas and get the aforementioned combi-melts.

I've slightly changed this a little, I've dropped the champions from all squads and given all troop units melta guns.
I've dropped a termy from each unit and given them all combi meltas and a single lightning claw, except one from each unit has a chainfist and heavy flamer
Daemon Prince is now taking lash whip instead of warp time
Reasons for these changes are meltas are better than flamers, but gives me a little more edge in anti tank. Termies have a chainfist in case of dreadnought or walker attack, lightning claws to re-roll those failed to hits, still power weapon and doesn't give attack bonus but same as normal profile. I've been using warp time for a bit and I hardly ever need to re-roll, if so only one dice in the to hit and to wound, so gone for lash instead
