So ya my firstattempt at painting an ork and I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I would appreciate any comments or critiques you all have, thanks in advance.

i like it, but not too keen on the choppa, just looks a bit weird.
other than that i would change the colour of the boots to break it up a bit.

Good idea on the boots that an easy fix, thanks. Ya close up the knife looks a bit odd but across the table it makes it almost glow, I have used it on a number of models and people will come across a room to pick them up because of that.

Looks more like an Ork to me. Otherwise good job

a quick fix on the boots:

try a brown ink (if you have one) and then a badab black wash over it.
should make it a very dark brown and help break up the solid colours.

Looks great for a first Ork. I think the lines on the choppa should go away, though. Perhaps bore out that bolter barrell wider. That's a pretty puny shell coming outta that gun as is.

The next one I will forgo doing the lines and see what you all think. Also the hole that I put in the barrel matches the shell ejection point so I think it is pretty close, it is just a really big gun.

No it is not, but that sounds really good right now >-<

I think I will have a couple more models finished by tomorrow and i will post them and see what you all think, it takes me forever to paint thing I am a perfectionist so i spen more time correcting minor mistakes instead of acually getting painting done lol.

I really like the idea to have the boots be a different color, so I did just that they are now a dark leather with black rubber soles it turned out pretty well I think.

What do you all think? (edit linked the wrong pics -__-)

Much better. I agree tho that choppa looks kind of weird. BUT in the end its your army. Like I always say paint them pink with royal blue stars if you want to, its yours.

Ill be honest and say that I was skeptical of the blue on the blade to start with, but looking at the 4th pic (where the blade is a little out of focus) I think you begin to see the effect better. As you say from across the room it would probably look pretty good.

The darker boots help a load.

If you wanted to try something else, you could try and paint the orky symbol thing on the side of the gun (visible in 4th pic) red or some similarly orky colour.

I don't think its a big deal if you don't though.

Very fine looking Orks. Good thing you broke up all the dark colors. A tad lighter skin wouldn't hurt either.

I would love to see you show a little more love to your bases now. Nothing pronounces the greatness of a model (or masks flaws) better than a NICE basing-job.

First, you need to cover that slot in the base better. If you want to make that base pop a bit more, you need more layers of ground. That flat, uniform area you have no wis very bland and unrealistic. A few small bits of coarser flock and a few small to mid-sized rocks/rubble would be easy and spice it it up just enough to not be so plain. If you felt so inclined, a few touches of static grass would be tits, too.
