I know that 40k stuff aren't really in proportion but I need anyone's opinion if my thunder hammer is badly out of proportion. So far I like it but I'm just interested with everyone else' point of view. I'm still working out the painting bit, seeing the stuff out there, I need so much more practice and techniques. I'm not too happy with the Gold bits and the cloak.

Naw, its looks awesome! Great use of the AoBR captain, btw. I like the melta conversion you got going there. Is it a combi or a regular melta?

If I knew, I'd tell you.

A thunder hammer can never be too big unless it is twice the size of the marine
Great conversion there and a brilliant use of the weird lookin' AOBR captain- now it looks insane!

Thanks guys, really appreciate it, hahaha.

Foxphoenix135: It's a combi-melta I converted from a leftover Meltagun. The massive ammo magazine I took from an AOBR Terminator's Storm Bolter.

The hammer:
-the shaft used to be a scout's sniper rifle's barrel.
-the "butt" part of the hammerhead was from the Dark Angels upgrade sprue. I'm not sure what it was, big round thing attached to a rope. It's probably just garnish for Dark Angels.
-the "body" of the hammer is a massive Melta bomb from a Devastator squad box.
-the "headpiece" I took from the AOBR blast/template sprue. The big round thing in the middle where they inject the plastic I reckon.

jackinthetank: You should have seen the first incarnation of the hammer, it was literally twice his size, lol.

I like it. It deffinetly looks big enough. Its a good size man. Besides all that really matters is if it looks good to you. I only take peoples advice if its going to help me do things better anyways. Other then that I do what I like

Yeah, FlammingGaunt is right about that. I think it is because your guy is a regular Power Armor guy instead of a terminator being the reason your hammer looks big. It actually fits perfectly though.

A bit big for my liking, but a good job. Although in the first photo, it looks like the marines have developed a version of the ork gargant bellygun!

I think most 40K weapons are way out of proportion. A real warhammer is like 10 inches long. Is this cooler? YES! That's all I have to say.

10 inches long?! Are you thinking of a TOY battlehammer. They are normally a little shy of 3 feet long.

I must say i love the melta/bolter conversion, it suits nicely, however i feel the end of the barrell where it is black needs alittle more attention, as well as the shoulder pads [please disreguard if WIP]

Onto the hammer, it fits snuggly and is well executed, bit i feel that the face of the hammer needs something extra to finish it.

But well done overall

Hammer looks a little undersize. Seriously, I like it for the long handle. The GW ones that only look fit for one handed use just look like a claw hammer. Technically, I supposse with a handle like that it is no longer a "hammer" but a "maul". But screw it; I like the name as is and your hammer as is.

I wanted a two-handend hammer (okay maul) because I just like to imagine him being able to put in so much momentum unto an Ork's, Eldar's, CSM's head

I'm still trying to figure out where to place his grenade launcher and more importantly what it'll look like. Being a Captain and all it has to have a more "whoa" look.

About the hammer, I still haven't figured out how to make it more "lightningy". I'm still looking around for painting techniques for that sizzling, HIGH voltage, don't even think about tounching me look.
