A little bit of help is needed. I remember that the now defunct Repent website had some articles/pics/tutorials on building really chunky marines/terminators from the old plastic terminators.

I'm planning on building a squad of true scale Word Bearers from the Heresy era (so new colours but not fully warped yet), however...I don't want to buy the new termie models (partly because Im veeeeeeeery poor at the moment) and I've got the old ones lying around. I'm curious if it's possible to build true scale marines from those old termies in the same way as the true scale marines from for example Migsula (Alpha Legionnaires, check the blog section here), Synapse (World Eaters) and Apologist (Ultramarines).

Any help, tutorials, advice or anything would be great!

Thanks!

If I knew, I'd tell you.

Unfortunately this is a bad idea. The old terminators are much smaller and the legs are in a silly pose.
Just save up and buy some terminator legs from ebay.
I hope this helps.

AoBR terms are cheap on E-bay, why not try your idea on them?

Unfortunately this is a bad idea. The old terminators are much smaller and the legs are in a silly pose.

Hmm, wouldn't making the lower legs a bit longer with plasticcard or greenstuff solve that problem? And couldn't the pose be worked on by placing the legs a bit differently?

The torso would be a normal space marine torso but then beefed up with some greenstuff. The arms might be the terminator arms, or the ones from the tactical marines. Look at Migsula's first Alpha Legionnaire and see that he pulled a similar stunt with those arms.
