Hi all, just thought I'd show my latest epic - my Death Korps of Krieg Diorama made, among other things of bits of broken wall tile from my local wickes! All opinions welcome - I've also got some in progress shots in my gallery if anyone is interested.

Wow thats pretty damn nice. I really liked (oddly enough) the propaganda fliers on the ground. Nice touch

That is a thing of beauty. Absolute eye candy, particularly the propaganda posters.

I truly hate to criticise something painted to such a lofty standard, but in the last pic do I see some green paint that has slipped on to the rubble near the bottom of the pipe?

Awesome work.

Very nice work, clean painting style. I really like the amount of realism you´ve gotten in this, just one question. Why is the loader outside the barricade? Wouldn´t he be behind the gunner somewhere?

Just wondering

Good call - I only noticed it myself when I posted the pic - time for a retouch methinks

Yeah, it does look like it from certain angles - basically the reloader dude is coming through a gap parallel with the wire, but on the gunner's side

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Much appreciated - still not where I want to be yet, but this is a step along the way

Great work.

Here's some new details of the posters - I'm pretty pleased with them but think I could have weathered them better - would love to know people's thoughts.

You should have made them fight in a trench but it is nice anyway.

Sometimes, we do not have the luxury of choosing when/where the enemy attacks.

Beautifully done diorama.

Really top notch. Great stuff.

Nice work.

If there is anything I would suggest it would be to add sand, like gravel and such. As it is now, the rubble seems to be in unrealistically large pieces. But thats just my talking.

That would have been one option but I wasn't too keen on the forgeworld trench products and so preferred a city setting. My initial idea was for these dudes to be defending a city block to the last man - this links in with the "repent" poster, which of course refers to the history of their race once being traitors 500 yrs previous - in other words these guys are motivated to fight as a form of payback for their ancestor's past deeds.

Good point which I agree with - only thing was there wasn't a lot of room left so maybe save that idea for next time.

Amazing piece.
IMO, it would look so much more epic if there was blood running down from underneath the loader. It looks like he is injured and dragging a leg already, and to show that he is indeed wounded but still attempting to provide more ammo would play heavily on your idea of them needing to repent and fight to the death.

Good idea - I have to do a retouch so may take your advice. Thanks.

Re: the loader - believe it or not he was the most challenging bit of the dio as I had to completely remodel one arm (from a lefty to a righty), due to the packaged right arm coming complete holding a weapon, and also create a brand new left arm from an old space marine bit and some green stuff.
You can just about see it here, though this ain't a good photo ..

Wow that is cool. Looks like 40k invaded the set on saving private ryan! I imagine that loader just went through hell getting that extra ammo and is trying to get back to his gun. I really like your gritty style, makes my painted figures look like a cartoon.
