 weirdboy
Elite:  tankbustaz x 12, 2 hammers, nob w/ pk
Troops:  Nobz x 10 on warbikes, 2 pk, 1 waaagh banner, bosspole, painboy
 boyz x 11 w/ nob w/ PK
 boyz x 11 w/ nob w/ PK
Dedicated:  trukk w/ red paint, armor, ram x2
first army ever. nothing too original. boss rides with nobs, obviously, weirdboy goes with tankbustaz, 2 boys squads in 2 trukks. honestly couldn't really come up with anything other than tankbustaz with weirdboy to handle AT. for objective missions, trukks are replaced with 1 more 11 ork boyz squad w/ nob w/ PK and painboy gets grot orderly. advice and c & c gratefully welcomed.

Big Tankbustas with very limited (Wierdboy) option to get to the vehicle (lets face the truth - rokits cant handle Land Raiders)...I use 5 with 2 Hammers in borrowed Trukk (i know You dont hav one to give them) or cheap bwagon (looted is also an option) - not so much points with option to "hammer" vehicles...
And to little equipment on Nobz, every one Nob should be different to allocate wounds aganst them...

Why a weirdboy together with the tankbustas? Hoping for Zap and frazzle?
I would equip the biker nobs all differently to abuse the wound allocation rule. Its much better to have 10 nobs with 1 wound left each then just 5 nobs with all wounds left after 10 inflicted wounds.
Otherwise it looks quite good for a biker/speed army.
A problem might be to get the tankbustas into action. Its only 1/6 chance to get Er we go with the weirdboy. The odds to get what you realy want increases with a warhead... but also the risk in rolling a 1.

Those boyz are going to get absolutely shot to pieces in one turn outside a vehicle, and pretty much immediately lose their mob advantage. The tankbustas aren't useful enough IMO - in 1250 pt games with this army your best interests will be in targetting heavy infantry, but TBs tend to automatically shoot the nearest vehicle as per the Glory Hogs rule.
Nob Bikes should give anyone a cause for worry, but they'll have 1250 pts of gunfire prioritised toward them. Just so you know, this being your first army and all.
Oh, if you're going to pay points for 'bustas, pay points for bomb squigs. It's the only way to accurately hit priority walkers and exposed skimmers.

I would drop the tankbustas and trukk for a squad of 15 lootas and take the extra points to kit the nob bikers differently.

I'd say either lootas or more boyz. Sure land Raiders and Russ will be a problem, but anything else should be fine. Not that you'll face too many of either of those at this points level.

thx to all for quick and solid feedback.
my friend who helped me out with that list talked me out of cybork nob bikers, and today when i was redoing the list based on your replies, i talked myself back into it, mostly because they'd be fun to make. so new list is:
hq:  Warboss w/ warbike, PK, cybork
elite:  lootaz x 8
troops:  nob bikers x 7 w/ cybork & stikkbombs
1 w/ pk & wb, 1 w/ pk & shoota/skorcha, 1 w/ pk, 1 w/ big choppa, bosspole & shoota/skorcha, 1 w/ big choppa and shoota/skorcha, 1 w/ big choppa, 1 painboy w/ grot
 3 squads of 12 boyz w/ nob w/ pk, all on trucks w/ armor & ram
for objective missions, all 3 trukks are replaced with 1 bw w/ ard case, deffrolla, armor plates, 1 big shoota, and zzap gun and no grot orderly for painboy. still kinda worried about tanks.

If I'm really having trouble with heavy tanks I run 2 Warbosses with PKs on bikes and just hope for the best :(
A friend of mine says he likes his 3 Zzap guns, but I never really liked that but to each their own.

for 1250 I like it, do you have any info on the kinda armies you will be playing against? For objective missions I would also trade two of the three 12 boy groups for shootas without the trukks they can footslog to the objectives while the slugga/choppa boys ride to combat in the battlewagon (Also Deff Rolla is awesome on a stik!)

great point on tha shootaz.
what i had in mind was my friend's army which is built around sicarius with tha command squad. he got sicarius and the command squad because we split a black reach box when we got into tha game a couple months ago and my nobs were stomping him. i also know he intends on putting them in a landraider once he gets it, which is why i'm concerned about AT. having enough problems putting com sqd down, much less one in a 14 all-around troop transport.
also, we're going to be on the same team for team tournaments and the local store seems to run 2500 pts/team tourneys most often. in that scenario, he's got enough AT for tha both of us, plus com sqd w/ sicarius.

Well vs. the land raider I would say go with the Assaulting Warboss as he's your best bet. If he hops on a bike or in a trukk if a bike is to expensive (point or $ wise) the trukk will help him get over to the fight try and run his land speeder down and lock it up with close combat. If you get the chance to get Zagtruk and some stormboys he can swoop in with 5 str9 hits from his Vulcha Klaws so He would be a great way to fly in from nowhere to kill that pesky raider.

For the team up I would let him run the heavy support and you take care of the troops, you can field a large horde of orks and he can spend most of his points on upgrading/getting some big Dreadnoughts or some heavy tanks or Land Speeder Spam XD Have y'all talked about the team up build? Or where you going to each just make a 1250 army each and field them together (might be easiest for newer players so you save on allot of $)
