The vinidcator seems out of place here.

you are also a little light on troop squads.

I would suggest getting rid of the vindicator and an assault squad for another troop squad.

Having PF's and MM attack bikes in a unit with flamers seems...silly? youre mixing anti horde and anti troop.

Id get the attack bikes in as a separate FA choice, meaning losing an ass squad, or give them HVB's

Actually, you already have flamers is the ass squads, maybe meltas on the bikes?

One of the strengths of the bike list is the FNP command bike squad, all can take spec weapons. can dump a lot of points into one super effective unit.

But thats just me...

Personally i think that you are missing the point of having Khan in the first place. You need to drop the assault squads and the vindicator and take more bikes. take attack bikes with heavy bolters to take out hordes and take multi meltas on your normal bikes and this should take down monterious creatures. I would also think you could try to make multi meltas on the attack bikes.

Note if you are going to take khan then you need to only take bikes that the point of having him.

I was mostly going for the 'hit and run' thing with khan and I thought it might be useful with assault marines

Hit and run is not to good because then the they get the charge on you the next turn

Here's the sequence I'm picturing:


1. On my turn, I charge.

2. My opponent and I resolve combat.

3. On my opponents turn, during his assault phase, we resolve combat again.

4. After resolving combat, before my turn, I perform the 'hit and run' part to
break combat.

5. I repeat 1 through 4

Command Squad, Command Squad, Command Squad.
4x Storm Shields
4x Meltas
2x Lightning Claw
2x Power Fist
Throw in a banner and go nuts. The meltas are optional. I use them because I also have He'stan in my list (I run my own chapter with the two SCs acting as 'counts-as').

I agree with replacing your assault squads with bike squads. Mixing flamers and multi-meltas in a single squad is going to reduce your effectiveness as a whole. Having the attack bike in your bike squads is nice for wound allocation purposes, but if you want to keep the flamers, you'd be better off with another bike - then put in a separate attack bike squad with the multi-meltas.

The Vindicator does seem out of place, as well.

I feel your list as it stands is trying to do to many things at once. Your bike squads are not maxed out, you have flamers on the squads but MM on the attack bikes, and you have 1 vindicator that is just kind of out of place. If you want to do a bike list you kind of have to go all out with them (esp with taking Khan) because they are a lower model count list that can be killed by ID and AP 1-3 weapons.

So lets start by dropping all the stuff that isnt a bike marine + all their war gear cept the PFs. We will add it back bit by bit.

3 well geared assault squads - 705 (!!!!)
1 vindi - 140
4 flamers and 2 MM - 40

885 points to work with

First make both bike squads the full 8 bikes + attack bike ( 125 points)
Seccond take a 3rd 9 man bike squad w/ PF and attack bike (280 points)

Now we kit out the bike squads. Depending on what people in your area play you can either make 1 squad anti-armor, 2 antir horde or vica versa. The set ups are horde HB, 2x flamer and armor is MM, 2x melta. This is totally up to you and what you are playing against. But prety much no matter what you are playing I would take 2 of one type and 1 of the other. For math sake lets go with 2 AA and 1 AH so 70 points there.

Next lets get a melee power house unit to help your bikes rip stuff to shreds in assault. Khan is a captain so he can take a command squad. Command squad + champion + PF + 1 SS = 260. It means you have 465 points in this one unit but it means your other 3 squads are not gettign shot at...and with the CS and 1 SS its is a harder unit to kill.

With the last points I would grab a 3 man attack bike squad set up for what ever you are fighting 2 HB, 1 MM for AH or 2 MM, 1 HB for AA. You want to put 1 gear differently so you can do a little bit of wound alocation to keep the 2 impotant ones alive for 1 extra wound.

So the list would be this:

command squad on bikes w/ champion, PF, SS

Troops
2x 8 man bike squad w/ melta x2, PF, attack bike w/ MM
8 man bike squad w/ flamer, PF, Attack bike w/ HB

Fast Attack
3 man attack bike squad w/ 2 HB, 1MM

1500 points

The other option if you don't like the command squad is another 8 man bike squad w/ 2 melta, and attack bike w/ HB but no PF.

Thanks for your input, battle-brothers. you've given me some great ideas to try out.

I actually Like the mix between the bike and assault troops. I think too many people building list today think that when you take a character that changes the army composition that it means that you need to spam that change, not so. The combination of flamers and multi meltas is great in concept because it keeps your units versitile, but unfortunetly it doesn't really work out that well in the end. I liked the idea of dropping the attack bikes off the squads and an assault unit for an attack bike unit. Also concider adding chronis to that vindy if you descide to keep it, its a winning combo. However I do agree that it is out of place in this list. When vindy's are the only real armor on the board they typically pop pretty fast. Also I can't say I like the speeder, although it fits the "speedyness" of the army I would drop it for more multi melta attack bikes. good luck
