This is some early concept art for a 28mm Weapons Sprue that's currently being discussed on the WarGames Factory Forums.

Could make for some inexpensive and interesting conversion fodder.

I am not sure why but #18 reminds me of something.... What could it be. Oh perhaps an exact copy from the Halo Plasma Pistol?

I'd guess they cut & pasted the image from some Halo material, in fact.

Those aren't necessarily what they will look like. Its probably them using the "concept" art as a place holder.

Uhm...the only one that looks similar to a Halo weapon is the plasma pistol. They are most certainly concept art and placeholders only.

This could be realy handy for IG veteran squads,etc...provided they keep the costs low and the actual sculpts don't look like poop.

IMO a sprue covering three centuries of weapons isn't as useful as three sprues covering different periods or types.

E.g. 1950s to modern, containing the revolver, shotgun and RPG.

Near future containing the pulse rifle, assault rifle and the futuristic pistols.

Far future containing the energy and plasma weapons.

Also the weapons need to look realistic. The flamethrower would be too heavy with the fuel tank on top. The SAW looks too thin and weedy to be a machine-gun.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

M41As would be cool, although hasslefree already does them.

Responces in no particular order.

* The image was created by me, from images people submitted in the thread about what types of weapons they would like to see on the sprue. I don't work for or officially represent WarGames Factory. I just really want to see this project succeed.

* All images are placeholder images. No official renders will be made untill the sprue hits 500 pre-orders. The Official renders will be based on our suggestions, so having a visible example is quite usefull.

* Pre-orders cost nothing, and the final cost per sprue is likely to be $4-5

* 18 is an image of a toy version of the Halo Plasma pistol

* M41As are cool. Hasslefree does them in metal, these will be in plastic. To some people that is a big difference.

* Real flamethrowers have tanks on back packs, I put the tank on top to save space. It shouldn't be anyworse than a paintball gun to carry.

* The SAW is a picture of an actual SAW. The ammo drum is missing, as it wasn't included in the pictures provided.

I am excited for the near future if AA12s are so common

EDIT: To add something constructive, I think they should do more of less guns. If we decide to proxy in 40k with those guns there will be a lot of leftovers.

I like the idea of more quantity less variation. Might be wise to go the route of a sprue of pistols, a sprue of rifles, and a sprue of support weapons.

And some floating left hands would be a choice inclusion.

Even better, multiple assault rifle variants.

For example I would love to find near-future ak's to equip my guard squads, and would end up buying a friggin ton of them.

But I'm sure many an IG player would have an interest in M4, M16, XM8, SCAR, G36, etc.

As far as guns go, I like the GW Autoguns. They look like pretty cool assault rifles to me. I just don't know what models have them or if they sell them separately as bits.

For the preview image of the Futuristic guns, they look pretty good. Where do we go to preorder?

How about some XM-25 style grenade launchers, or Something like an M32?

LAUL Pre-Orders are to judge interest. You pre-order if your intersted in the "concept". Pre-Orders cost nothing and if the final product does not meet your approval, you are not obligated to forfill your preorders.

If everyone were to wait for the renders, or final product is decided on, to pre-order then nothing will ever get enough preorders to make renders or a final product

28mm Near Future Weapons Sprue can be pre-ordered here

The official thread discussing suggestions for it's contents can be found here

If you would like to discuss the idea of more quantity, less variation going the route of a sprue of pistols, a sprue of rifles, and a sprue of support weapons you might want to pop over to WGF and suggest those as candidates for sprues. If your suggestion gets enough pre-orders to go into production you will recieve 10 free copies of your sprue and $100 WGF gift certificate.

There is already a sprue for support weapons being discussed here

I wouldnt mind getting some M4's scaled for Imperial Guard. Or some conversions to make las-AKS or something along those lines.

I'd love to have some good quality Aliens Pulse rifles... but as this is a mock up with photo images I'll hold judgement till we get to see the actual sprue.

To be honest you can make most of these up as it is from regualr GW sprue parts and weapons.

Something that looks like an Imperial Guard Hellgun/Hotshot Lasgun would be a good addition.

Awesome, thats a lot of great weapons there. I'd order a bunch of almost all of them just to get more variation in my armies.

There are going to be TONS of different options for 1/35 scale modern weapons. That scale is fairly close for 40K models. There are probably a lot of 1/48 options, which is also close.

Example:

That's all well and good, but...

Consider if you will, that the average cadian is wearing shoulder pads the size of a basketball, a helmet that'd squeeze the disks out of his vertebrae, carries a rifle about as big as a M2 .50 machine gun should be, and that special/heavy weapons are even bigger. On a GW model the weapon proportions need to be grossly distorted or you end up with your infantry carrying toothpick rifles that look completely out of place compared to everything else on the tabletop.

And! if the sprue had left hands on it I would probably have a stroke from the joy of not having to salvage or sculpt a left hand for every single rifle armed model in my army.

Side note: 1/48 is terrible on a 'heroic' mini, don't waste your money trying anything smaller than 1/35th

1/45 is about 28mm, though with GW the scale is 28mm "Heroic" which is close to 32mm but with weird proportions thus using 1/35.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The only weapon sprues I would be buying is a sprue of shotguns or a sprue of plasma and melta weapons.
