Check it out.

MotF Deploys in one corner of the board and trys not to die while blasting away with his CB.

Troops will probably stay in reserve as long as possible giving time to the Ironclads to clean of threats to the scoring units.

DREAD DEPLOYMENT....

If you win the roll...you're good...and going second. If your opponent deploys...hit him with your drop pod assault. If he stays in reserve with his army to rob you of the DP assault advantage. Deploy 3 dreads on the board and use EMPTY drop pods on the first turn. Start on the line...run with dreads, pop smoke, and wait for him to bring his turn 2 guys on....which the remainder of units will drop on to attack. Same deal if he forces you to go first.

What you guys think? Sucks?

EDIT- Just looked again, you COULD drop the fists and Combi's on the squads, along with the conversion beamer and grab up a third Typhoon. Thats some pretty decent anti-horde.....

If you're doing drop-pod, why not take pods for the Troops? Lets you put down 4 dreads first turn instead of 3 if you want. Dropping the fists and combi-meltas is probably a good idea here, it's really redundant in this list. Having only two troops is going to suck, but a list like this could work, against the right opponent. I'd want to shoehorn in another unit, maybe some scouts for the Master to sit in/behind.

Conversion beamer is really kind of needed for him here, since he can't really support the dreads in any way. You could change the Typhoons into dual-HB speeders, that'd give you a good amount of anti-infantry too at long range, and it would free up some points.

Needs more troops, you'll never hold any objectives.

"Each must find their own way. If those in our heartland had witnessed the savageries of the void as have we they would know this. The hand of each of the great starfarers is turned against the other; none will join their strength together just to to see their ancient enemies prosper. Neither should we."

I agree with both of the above posters. If you're going to run drop pod spam at least use an odd number so you can get 4 Dreads onto the table early.

You also need a third tactical squad.

The overall concept is sound. I'd find room for one more tac squad and at least 1 more drop pod.

Personally i never liked lists like this because if you after fighting a fast army they can just run away from you and youll never even get a fighting chance against them and the meltas are not far enough range to compensate for the scatter. So i would put of lasscannons on the troops and pull them into cover and if you have a ruin make it into the 3+ save so that unit will never die.

The one Ironclad without a melta is lonely. :-(

That's the best list so far, though you could substitute the Landspeder Storms for rhinos (or Razorbacks) for those 5-man scouts or Combat-squaded tacticals. It'll sacrifice a little of your speed though. Put smoke on the transports.

Hello Guardsmen, look at your Leman, now back to mine, now back to your Leman, now back to mine. Sadly, your Leman isn't mine, but if they stopped using standard engines and switched to Lucifer Pattern, they could move like they're mine. Look down, back up. Where are you? Your in a battlefield with the Rhino your Leman could move like. Whats in your hand, back at me, I have it, it's the fire control for the Twin-linked Assault Cannons aimed at you. Look again, it's a Deep-Striked Land-Raider. Anything is possible when your Tanks move like Blood Angels, and not like Guardsmen. I'm on a Baneblade.

6 dreads drop first turn.

for 2000 I would drop all three assault squad flamers and the power weapon on the tac squads to put in vulkan.

at 2500, I would make the heavy support dreads ironclads, and add an extra tac squad/fill out assault squads more.
